Addict sent to jail after stealing champagne and women's shoes

A DRUG addict who squandered a chance of drug treatment by re-offending has been jailed.

Prolific offender Liam Merrigan was handed a suspended sentence with treatment in April, Bristol Crown Court heard.Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon.

Less than two months later he stole 275-worth of champagne from a pub cellar and a pair of women's shoes from a Primark store.

Merrigan, 27, of Little Cross House in Phipps Street, Bedminster, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.

Judge Julian Lambert told him: "You are 27 and have a deep-seated addiction to Class A drugs, which has blighted your life for some years. You chose to take a chance. Now, I regret to say, you have to pay the price."

Nicholas Fridd,List of sunglasses Products. prosecuting, said Merrigan was previously handed drugs treatment and a suspended jail term for attempted burglary in Redcliffe. Mr Fridd said: "He failed, the next day, to attend an appointment and attended only one in five."

On June 6 Merrigan went into the cellar of the Pump House pub in Hotwells and helped himself to five bottles of Moet champagne. He was detained by a barman until police arrived. Eight days later Merrigan went to the Primark store in The Horsefair and stole a 6 pair of shoes before being detained.

Mr Fridd told the court Merrigan had 25 court appearances for 53 offences, including 35 for dishonesty and seven burglaries.

James Bromige, defending, said his client was under no illusion the judge would have to activate the previously suspended 12-month prison sentence.

Mr Bromige stressed his client caused little disturbance in the burglary and the property was recovered immediately. He said: "It was committed on impulse, an easy way out to assist a drug debt."

The judge heard Merrigan was on a programme to reduce his drug habit and he had taken no illegal drugs while remanded in custody.

Mr Bromige said: "The root cause was a lack of stability that he found himself in on release from prison in April. The temperature in Death Valley on Sunday reached 129 degrees,Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon. tying the location's record for June and falling just five degrees short of the all-time world record temperature of 134 degrees, which was set there in July 1913.

In Las Vegas the temperature hit 117. This tied the all-time record for the city, first set in 1942 and tied in 2005, the National Weather Service reported.

The record-setting heat wave is expected to bake the Southwest well into the work week, the National Weather Service said.

Civic and emergency officials throughout the Southwest say if there was ever a time to worry, this would be it.We have high quality dieseljeans, you can not miss the best Tag Heuer Replica Watches online.

The reason isn't just the oppressive heat that is plaguing the region: It's the fact it is expected to hang around, and possibly even get worse, over the next few days.

"A very strong ridge of high pressure is centered over much of the western U.S.," CNN senior meteorologist Dave Hennen said Monday. "That high pressure causes sinking air, which becomes compressed and warms up and also dries out. This particular high pressure system remains stuck in the West, which has allowed the heat to build last week and through the weekend."

Las Vegas will remain under an excessive heat warning until Thursday night, as will Death Valley.

Tony Orlowski, manager at Randy's Restaurant and Ice Cream in Scottsdale, Arizona, said customers all express the same complaint when they come in the door: "It's hot out there."

"We tell them, 'It's cool in here. Come in and cool off,'" he said.

Orlowski normally recommends a milkshake, a banana split or a couple of scoops of ice cream to take some of the sting out of the summer sun.

Before they head out into the furnace, he advises, "Don't catch a chill."

The humor is as dry as the heat.
