Culling Cankles

It’s a term that was first introduced into the mainstream vocabulary by Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green in the television show Friends, yet now the mere mention of the word “cankles” leaves women the world-over quaking in their boots. Even some of Hollywood’s hottest A-listers,Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon.Formal ralphlaurenhoody on sale at great discount. including Cheryl Cole and Mischa Barton,Top 10 Hairstyles For authenticjackets. have been accused of having them. There really is no escape! And for yo-yo dieters such as Mischa and actress Hilary Duff, it really doesn’t help that gaining weight will only make cankles look worse!

According to The Wall Street Journal the average circumference of a woman’s ankle is around 11 inches, but women with cankles have no definition around their ankle area, therefore giving the impression that her calf is merging into her ankle. Not a good look! Such is the fear of this latest phenomenon that many Hollywood celebrities are going to extraordinary lengths to get rid of their fat ankles once and for all.

And it seems no-one is safe. After suffering decades of ridicule for her gravity-defying body (in human dimensions 39-18-33), Barbie met her toughest critic yet when iconic shoe designer Christian Louboutin openly criticised her cankles. While many wonder what all the fuss is about, the reality is paranoia over the ankle area is at epidemic levels in America and celebrities and models are desperate to find a solution. A number of A-Listers are enlisting the help of experts to assist them in re-shaping their ankles, thanks to the unforgiving lenses that hone in on them on them as they walk the red carpet.

Rumours are swirling that Cheryl Cole, Mischa Barton, Hilary Duff and even 20-year-old Miley Cyrus have all gone to great lengths to rid themselves of the problem. As the craze continues to sweep the States, gyms are coming up with new ways to tone cankles, and shoe companies are creating solutions to minimise them. But by far the most popular recourse is plastic surgeons, who are creating procedures to suck the fat out of them.

Dr. Vivek Bansal a US Board-certified plastic surgeon at Elite MD Spa, has a four-month waiting list for his ‘Smart Lipo’ procedure. He treats seven women a week at his San Francisco-based practice, which charges up to Dhs16,500 for the procedure that can drain half a litre of fat from each leg. “In an age where people like to wear dresses and high-heels, it is hard to make fatty tissue around the ankles look attractive,” revealed Dr Bansal.Long and slim-fitting, the beadsbeads is equally appropriate for strolling a city street or hiking a snowy trail. “Women are opting more and more for a surgical solution. We have operated on models who work-out for many hours a day and they can’t get rid of them. Unfortunately, while diet and exercise can help, it can’t make the fat in the area go away. This procedure helps to eradicate the fat and without scarring.”

Traditional liposuction would literally involve cutting the fat out, leaving a lot of big scars as well as a long healing process. However, advances in medicine have brought new innovations to the fore, including lasers that melt the fat away. “This new laser treatment makes a very small incision with no general anaesthetic and there’s no IV needed,” added Dr Bansal. “We put the laser in, underneath the skin and it melts the fat in the area. The fibre we put into the skin is smaller than the tip of a pen. Its works well because there are no stitches involved, meaning there is little down time; it also helps with tightening of the skin and gets rid of irregularities.”
