Conflicting accounts

Anthony Weiner’s account of the number of text messages he sent to a then-17-year-old girl in 2011 differs substantially from the number of tweets that the girl and her family said they received.

Weiner and the family of Margaret Henning also gave conflicting accounts of the contents of those private messages during a police investigation of the former New York congressman’s relationship with the girl.

Henning’s mother Donna Synnamon, an unnamed family member and Weiner have all given contradictory accounts of just how many private messages Henning received from the congressman,This kind of organza valuableedhardy features off-the-shoulder and sweetheart design. with the mother saying she got two messages, the family member three, and Weiner saying he sent five.

Henning, now 19, was a high school student in Delaware, and is currently enrolled in the Arizona State University. Neither she nor her family returned repeated requests for comment.

Henning was one of many young women with whom Weiner maintained furtive Twitter relationships while he was in Congress. She is the only one known to have been underage at the time.

Weiner, whose campaign for New York City mayor is collapsing, has been back in the news following revelations that he continued sexual Twitter relationships with an unknown number of women even after he resigned from Congress in disgrace. Weiner has declined to say definitely that he no longer sexts with strange women today.

The new revelations and Weiner’s determination to keep himself in the public eye have brought new attention to unanswered questions about his behavior two years ago.

The police did take, and later returned, the girl’s laptop. A records officer from the New Castle County police department declined to give out any other information about the case, saying that this reporter needed to file a subpoena to get the police logs.

When news of Weiner’s having sent her lewd messages surfaced, Henning quickly blocked her account and changed her twitter handle @maggiehenning, but at the end of the month, she returned to Twitter, tweeting,Wholesale ledlamp, gucci leather handbags purses offsale. “I didn’t do shit and I’m in no way involved in your political bullshit.” She later deleted the account.

Henning is a political liberal and a supporter of gay marriage, but she works for Chick Fil-A in the Concord Mall and supports drug-testing welfare recipients, according to her Facebook page. She works with her boyfriend’s mother, Gretchen Trotter, who is a pro-Second Amendment, pro-life Blaze reader.

“I think they probably like a bit of darkness in a story and I think if you put in something where they’ll go ‘Yuck!’ then that’s probably OK. I think children like that.”

Dan probably went “Yuck” quite a lot when he was growing up. He was born in Stockton but his dad was a chemical engineer with a lust for travel.

When Dan was very young – too young to remember – the family relocated to Sierra Leone but then returned to Washington, Tyne & Wear.

Then, when he was six, they were off again, to Indonesia, where they spent seven years, although Dan and his brother - two years his senior - spent term times at boarding school in England. The globetrotting routine was maintained when the family moved to Brazil where Dan’s dad managed a rubber plantation.

“Books were an escape at school,” recalls Dan. “There was a moment in the day before lights out when you had to be quiet. That was when you could escape into a book.”

Come holiday time and escape was for real. Dan describes a marathon journey involving a flight to Brasilia and another to Santa Terezinha, a town 1,000 miles from the nearest city.

Preparing to embark on the return flight,View our wide range of canadagoosecoat online today. a guy would stand beside the plane with a fire extinguisher in case the engines caught fire. It was rudimentary and, says Dan, “great fun”.

“I think I was the right age for it. Basically we did boy’s adventure stuff. We’d go up the river for a couple of days and fish (photos on Dan’s website show catfish longer than a man is tall). Also we hunted with guns. The main street wasn’t much. There were bars, brothels and shops where you could buy basic foodstuffs, bullets and fishing gear.”

The local Brazilians “loved to party”. But evidently they had their own code, as Dan explains.

“In my first book there’s an electrician who has a second job in that he’ll kill people for money.

“Our gardener was a respected man because he’d killed 17 people but there was never any sense of threat. He was quite a good guy. He once said to my dad, ‘You’re a really good employer, Mr Smith. You pay us on time, so if there’s anybody you don’t like, let me know. I can do it for free.’”

University of Minnesota research reveals luxury

Purchasing designer handbags and shoes is a means for women to express their style, boost self-esteem, or even signal status. New University of Minnesota research suggests some women also seek these luxury items to prevent other women from stealing their man.In our Michael Kors handbags shop, cheap menhoodies hot sale at an affordable price.

Through a series of five experiments featuring 649 women of varying ages and relationship statuses,Formal coats on sale at great discount. Carlson School of Management Associate Professor Vladas Griskevicius and PhD student Yajin Wang discovered how women’s luxury products often function as a signaling system directed at other women who pose a threat to their romantic relationships.

"It might seem irrational that each year Americans spend over $250 billion on women’s luxury products with an average woman acquiring three new handbags a year, but conspicuous consumption is actually smart for women who want to protect their relationship," says Griskevicius, coauthor of The Rational Animal: How Evolution Made Us Smarter Than We Think. "When a woman is flaunting designer products, it says to other women ‘back off my man.’"

Griskevicius and Wang first investigated what other women infer about a woman’s relationship partner based on the luxuriousness of her possessions. "We found that a woman who is wearing luxury items and designer brands is perceived to have a more devoted partner and as a result other women are less likely to flirt with him," says Wang. "Regardless of who actually purchased the items, other women inferred that the man had something to do with it and is thus more devoted to her."

In another study, Griskevicius and Wang made participants feel jealous by having them imagine that another woman was flirting with their man. Shortly afterward, the women completed a seemingly unrelated task in which they drew a luxury brand logo on a handbag.Big parkajackets and Fitness is a family owned shop serving the Helena area since 1986. The result? When women felt jealous, they drew designer logos that were twice the size of those in the other conditions.

"The feeling that a relationship is being threatened by another woman automatically triggers women to want to flash Gucci, Chanel, and Fendi to other women," explains Wang. "A designer handbag or a pair of expensive shoes seems to work like a shield, where wielding a Fendi handbag successfully fends off romantic rivals."

Another of Griskevicius and Wang’s studies revealed that when romYou'll be the queen of the room in this valuableedhardy evening gown.antic relationships were threatened, women not only desired more expensive handbags, cars, cell phones, and shoes, they also spent 32 percent more of their own money for a chance to win an actual luxury spending spree.

This research highlights that luxury products serve an important function in relationships, but that men and women use conspicuous consumption for a different purpose. Past research by Griskevicius has found that men often seek expensive products to show off to the opposite sex in order to attract them as mates. The current studies reveal that women often seek expensive products to show off to the same sex in order to protect their turf.

"The fact that most women’s luxury products are aimed to impress other women helps explain why men have a hard time figuring out if a woman’s handbag costs $50 or $5,000," adds Griskevicius. "Women’s designer products are geared to show off to other women not men."

A surprising finding in the paper was that feelings of jealousy triggered a desire for luxury products not just for women in committed relationships but also for single women. "Many single women obviously want designer products, but instead of these products saying back off my current man, the single woman is saying back off my future man," adds Wang. "Conspicuous consumption for women has a lot to do with subtle status within the female group." Working out of power manage to louboutinpum property.

Jill Milan handbags have also been featured by influential fashion media, including W Magazine and The Zoe Report.

A new study has found that beyond being a symbol of fashion and status, designer handbags may also be used to tell other women to back off.

Researchers studying what women buy — and why — found expensive handbags send a very distinct message: stay away from my man.

The power of the purse can extend beyond a mere fashion statement, according to researchers at the University of Minnesota.

The handbags can act as a shield, protecting against other women who may pose a threat to their romantic relationship, according to the study.

“I think women dress for women overall, so that’s an interesting statement,” Valerie Echavarria said.

Teaneck, N.J. marriage and family therapist Dr. Jane Greer reviewed the study, which concluded women wearing luxury items are perceived to have a more devoted partner.

As a result, other women are less likely to flirt with him. Fast shipping and best prices on hermeshandbag. Buy Now!

“You’re giving a message that ‘I’ve got the goods and you can’t compete with me.’ So having that pocketbook or those expensive designer shoes is really a way of saying, ‘don’t try to step into my turf, my space or get it on with my man,’” Dr. Greer told CBS 2′s Kristine Johnson.

Researchers put more than 600 women through a series of experiments.

Russia blasts Estonia defense minister over Nazi sympathies

Russian Foreign Ministry has sharply criticized the Estonian Defense Minister’s address to the country’s veterans of the Waffen SS, in which the official suggested that the Soviet and Nazi troops were equal during WWII.

Minister Urmas Reinsalu addressed the weekend meeting of the Estonian Freedom Fighters Union – the organization that unites the veterans of the 20th Waffen Grenadier Division, also known as the First Estonian.

In his speech the official stated that Estonia “had repeatedly condemned the repressive policies of the Soviet Union and National Socialist Germany, as well as the actions of people who committed crimes against humanity.”

Russia called the statement “another attempt to put on one scale the Soviet Union that has made a decisive contribution into ridding Europe of the ‘brown plague’, and Nazi Germany.” Russian diplomats also noted that the Estonian minister chose not to remind the public about such outrageous crimes as the total destruction by the Nazis of the two ethnic groups that resided in Estonia before the war – the Jews and the Roma (Gypsies) – as well as the fact that the genocide was committed largely by Estonian collaborators.

In addition,Go to buy handbagwholesale in hotmkbags Oline Store with preferential price. the Russian side pointed out that over the past 20 years the Estonian authorities have not even once shown due respect to the veterans of the Estonian Rifle Corps of the Red Army. At the same time, the veterans who once donned the uniforms of the Waffen SS and other of Hitler’s formations are greeted by Estonia’s state officials and receive decorations and awards.

“Therefore, such activities cannot be appraised in any other way but as a premeditated planting of pro-Nazi sentiments in the society,Fast shipping and best prices on ladyhandbag. Buy Now!” the Russian note reads.Buy cheapreplicawatches for men and women here.

Estonia’s Freedom Fighters Union is a public organization with about 2,000 members who fought on the side of Nazi Germany in WWII. In total, about 80,000 Estonians joined Nazi troops during the war and 3,000 more fought as volunteers in the Finnish Army, which was also an ally of Nazi Germany. At the same time, about 30,000 Estonians joined the Red Army ranks forming the Estonian Rifle Corps.

Russia has repeatedly voiced protests over glorification of Nazism in Estonia as re-unions of veterans happen in this country almost annually and each time the authorities send official greetings to former Waffen SS soldiers.

Christian Louboutin exhibit inspires everyday high heel looks

The heights of Christian Louboutin’s shoes have no boundaries – neither do the women who love his work – and he appreciates that.

The French shoe icon was in Toronto recently to help launch Christian Louboutin: An Exhibition Celebrating 20 years of Design, Artistry and Magic at The Design Exchange.

Featuring more than 250 pairs of shoes, the famous red soles are displayed in nine thematic areas based on Louboutin’s influences from travel, entertainment, architecture and the showgirl. This is its first stop outside of London’s Design Museum where it debuted last year and the only Canadian destination. Our Michael Kors handbags outlet supply cheap designer and new bossbelt for you.

“It’s very nice to see a very big part of my work unified,” said Louboutin at a press conference held before the exhibit’s opening.

Opening up about how he stays inspired to produce some of the most sought after shoes in the world, the designer said it’s all about freedom.

“To work out of freedom it definitely makes a difference for me and is very important for me,” he said. “If you are a free spirit there’s no boundaries to creating.”

There are also no boundaries to which some of his fans will go to just so they can own a pair of red bottoms. Asked about a woman in Dallas who was jailed for stealing funds from her company to fund her shoe habit, Louboutin said he couldn’t help but have a ‘big smile’ when he heard this story.

“It’s so sweet to be so passionate to do something so crazy ... but I can’t say no, I don’t understand,With the Bari Jay collection you'll be able to wear your monclerjackets again! because I do understand, I totally understand that passion very well.”

As for criticism he’s received for creating heels that reach lofty heights, and openly admitting his shoes aren’t made for comfort, the designer says his ‘work is for women’ and he knows and respects them enough to make their own choice.

Squeezing your toes into those pretty pumps may be a pain worth suffering for thousands, but if it’s any comfort, Louboutin says he breaks a sweat creating them sometimes too.

A handbag is a crucial as ever; as women wear fewer articles of clothing, they often make their purse their statement piece. It's perhaps more so important to have a purse given women's clothing's propensity to have insufficient pocket space. On a trip to the beach or the poolside a woman's bikini might be her fashion statement du jour, but it comes with a side of handbag if she's going to be carrying sunscreen, not to mention her wallet and keys. There's nothing like an eye-catching rhinestone handbag and a pair of sunglasses to turn a bathing suit into an outfit. What's more, NP Fashion's brightly colored, gorgeous purses, handbags and belts look great even with a pair of shorts or a summer skirt. A handbag becomes truly essential in the summer. You'll be the queen of the room in this ssuniform evening gown.

The best part about gorgeous designer style handbags from NP Fashion, of course, is that unlike those with famous Italian names sewn onto them, retail establishments can carry them without breaking the bank. It's pivotal for small boutiques and kiosks to have an inventory that attracts passersby, especially because they can't be as theft-averse as the shopkeeper of a major retail outlet whose stock-in-trade consists of four digit prices. Retail theft shouldn't be tolerated, but its effects can be mitigated by stocking a more moderately priced item. NP Fashion's wholesale prices are so low that their customers can set their retail cost at a variety of levels while still turning a healthy profit. NP Fashion's purses are so well made that they can retail for rates that are many times more than their wholesale cost. This fact makes buying purses from NP Fashion an incredibly low-risk purchase for retail operations trying to remain competitive in today's market.

Do you have trouble finding athletic shoes that fit properly? I do!!!!!

Picking out the right pair of athletic shoes/sneakers to go to the gym or exercise outdoors can be challenging, especially being me. Heck, even just picking out sneakers for every day use is difficult in my world.

I’ve had a problem buying comfortable sneakers for years. I can buy any kind of heels, but going to buy sneakers is an all day experience for me, and not a fun one.

I bought a pair of athletic shoes while I was in a rush because the store was about to close. I wore them in the house for half an hour to see how they fit.2013 Collection germanarmyuniforms 1672 Styles. I knew then they wouldn’t be good but I brought them along in my gym bag and only put them on when I went on the treadmill. After 15 minutes I had to take them off. The bottom of my one foot fell asleep and the arch of the other started aching. I am finally exercising again and I have the athletic shoe dilemma. I bought a second pair and so far so good, I think.

I retract that last statement. A few days later and I have to bring this pair back, too. It’s terrible when you want so badly to do cardiovascular and you can’t do it to the full capacity due to shoe wear. In the past few years this may have interrupted my flow of doing cardiovascular, but not this time. I returned both pairs of sneakers and kept trying and trying again. I will continue on my journey.

Finding the right shoe wear is crucial for your workouts so you do not injure yourself. When my athletic shoes are not giving me the proper support, I find they could cause me to feel back pain, foot pain, and sometimes even leg pain.Choose cheap hermesbags on ourwebsite and save your money for really qualitative and durable fake watches. Knee pain is a definite when the sneakers are not good for me. I have heard more than once, that tie-up athletic shoes have more support. I’m not sure how true this is but I always buy tie-ups because I prefer them. If they are too loose or too tight in one spot I feel I can adjust them. If I learned anything over the years it’s that good athletic shoes should have shock absorption.View profiles and information for the Team livestrongcycling 2012 race team and riders here. The ones I returned didn’t. I couldn’t walk fast in them. Who wants uncomfortable work out shoes? I SURELY DON’T!

Here are some tips from my experiences (Again, this is only my opinion from my experiences. What works for me may not work for you.)

When trying on athletic shoes make sure you bring the type of socks you will wear when working out or just in general when wearing your sneakers.
I’ve read many times – don’t shop for your athletic shoes early in the morning because you want your feet to expand throughout the day,How to make sure your alineweddingdresses. reason being: when you walk or run your feet will expand so it helps ensure proper fit.

Pay attention to your feet. Athletic shoes should not have to be broken in. If they are uncomfortable,Shop Cheap Christian Louboutin Shoes on the myshoe123 and get the Real tiffanyjewelry now. try on another size or move onto a different style. Walk around in them in the store as much as possible or bring them home and walk on a clean area.

Some tips for after you have them for a while.

From all of the articles and studies I read, they all seem to be synonymous in saying 300 – 500 miles or 3 – 6 months, depending on how much use you get out of them, your body weight and the surface that you run or walk on. All these things factor in. The miles add up and if you are running frequently during your workouts and your athletic shoes get worn out, there is a much higher risk for injury.

Don’t wait until they look old and ready to be thrown out. As far as support goes I know I can feel the difference when they are starting to get worn on the inside. Just because the exterior still looks good, doesn’t mean the cushions that were only made for a certain amount of mileage and protection are still good. Just be aware. The same way you can’t judge a book by it’s cover; you can’t judge a sneaker by it’s look.

Again, I’m not an expert in athletic shoes in any way, shape or form; I’m just sharing what I’ve learned through experience and reading articles and studies in hopes of helping you, too. If you have any thoughts, suggestions or ideas that worked for you in the past, feel free to share. I CAN SURELY USE THE HELP AND I’M SURE MANY OTHERS CAN TOO!!!!!!!!

A man charged with brutally attacking a New Jersey woman as she watched cartoons with her 3-year-old — a beating captured on a hidden camera — pleaded not guilty to multiple charges Tuesday.

Shawn Custis, 42, entered not guilty pleas to attempted murder, robbery, burglary and child endangerment in Essex County Superior Court. He was ordered held on $750,000 bail following his arrest Friday in Manhattan.

The June 21 attack in Millburn was captured on a so-called “nanny cam” hidden inside the home’s living room.

The recording shows the woman sitting on a couch watching television with her child, then getting up to investigate a noise in the back of the house. She backs up toward the couch as a man comes into the room and starts savagely beating her

The recording then shows the man going upstairs where authorities said he rifled through the family’s belongings. The video shows him coming downstairs multiple times, beating the woman and finally throwing her down a flight of stairs and eventually running out the front door.

The child cowers on the couch the entire time. Police said a 1-year-old was sleeping upstairs.

“We believe it was his intent to kill the mother,” said Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly,It is also ' onerous area for cellulite discountcoachhandbags. at a news conference. A public defender representing Custis did not comment after the hearing.

Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said she does not know why the camera was taping while the mother, whose name is being withheld, was home with the children. But more and more people are employing this type of technology in their homes, she said.

“The video is very helpful and increasingly there is video evidence. People in the community who are inclined to do criminal acts should probably be aware that it’s often a help for us,” Murray said. “The video shows what violent crime looks like.”

Prosecutors said the woman is out of the hospital.

“The family is intact, they’re together,” Fennelly said. “They’re trying to move on.”

As ‘war’ rages, Gettysburg vendors hope to cash in

As re-enacted war raged several miles away, tourists strolled a commercial strip of Gettysburg to survey T-shirts, hats and other trinkets to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War’s pivotal battle.

More than 200,000 people — including thousands of re-enactors — are expected to visit this small south-central Pennsylvania town through Fourth of July weekend to mark the milestone.

And it’s a prime opportunity for vendors to make some money.

Sightseers can pick up one of the many incarnations of “150th Anniversary” T-shirts at stores along about a two-block stretch of one of the main drags in town, Steinwehr Avenue, less than a quarter-mile from the Gettysburg National Military Park. One store, in between two shops that promote ghost tours, had “Army of the Potomac” and “Army of Northern Virginia” athletic department shirts among offerings hanging on its porch.Stay up to date on the latest team rider and laceweddingveils releases.

A few visitors said they aren’t comfortable with the consumerism in town. You will get compliments on how elegant these adidassuit look.

“I don’t like the commercialism. I think they can do a lot less of it,” said Richard Gow, 65, of Binghamton, N.Y. Dressed sharply in a gray uniform, Gow was portraying noted Confederate Gen. Lewis Armistead outside the American Civil War Wax Museum.

Then Gow — himself a U.S. Army veteran who served during Vietnam — looked toward the battlefield, just down the road. That is where the self-proclaimed Civil War buff, who said his family ties trace back to Confederate Major Gen. John Gordon, said visitors can find what’s really important.

“It’s the grounds,” he said reverentially, referring to the fields and hills where up to 10,000 Union and Confederate soldiers died in the Civil War’s pivotal conflict. “It’s an honor to be here.”

Federal forces turned away the Confederates during fierce fighting on July 1-3, 1863, ending with the South’s ill-fated Pickett’s Charge across an open field against Union soldiers.

But making money on Gettysburg isn’t new. In fact, profiteers went out to scour the battlefield, after the fighting was over, to search for relics to sell, said Peter Carmichael, professor of history at Gettysburg College.

Soon after the war, a brothel was established on Little Round Top, the hill that was the sight of key fighting later made famous in the 1974 Pulitzer Prize- winning novel, “The Killer Angels,” and the 1993 movie “Gettysburg.” That’s long gone, too, with the National Park Service overseeing the land now.Purchase formaldressesevening online, stay updated on team riders, latest news and events.

“The battlefield in many ways is much less commercialized than it once was,” Carmichael said Saturday.

George Lomas, owner of The Regimental Quartermaster store on the busy commercial strip said he’s been gearing up for this week for months. His business primarily attracts re-enactors looking to buy period military jackets, shirts and belts along with bayonets and muskets.

Smaller tables near the front door carried 150th anniversary T-shirts and more kitschy items like a pen shaped like a mini-drumstick inscribed with “Civil War.”

Re-enactors have been streaming in this week, Lomas said, but he also sells items for tourists.

When asked about people who may think Gettysburg is too commercialized, Lomas said, “That happens. That’s business. I don’t think it’s over-commercialized. Of course, welcome to our new store castellicycling. I’m prejudiced.”

He noted how a stretch of road along the actual battlefield actually became less commercialized. He was referring to the Park Service’s efforts in recent years to rehabilitate major areas of the battlefield to make it better resemble the territory soldiers encountered 150 years ago.

One of the changes involved removing a motel that that once stood across the street from a monument for Ohio soldiers. The rehabilitation process grew out of a master plan in 1999 that didn’t set the 150th anniversary as a deadline — though park officials say it was a welcome and timely coincidence.

The Killer Angels, written by Michael Shaara, and the Gettysburg movie have been credited with increasing interest in the war in recent decades. Shaara died in 1988.

His son, Jeff, himself a bestselling author whose “Gods and Generals” was the 1996 prequel to his father’s classic, was signing books at the wax museum Saturday morning. He said he saw commercialism as a way to help the community pay for the taxes that in turn paid for infrastructure.

Shaara said other scenes in and around Gettysburg this anniversary week had to be taken into account, like lines of Boy Scouts eagerly going through the National Park Visitors Center; or dedicated history buffs wearing wool uniforms on a sunny summer afternoon marching in detailed formations to recreate the fighting. The Canada Goose Manitoba Jacket has a removable hood and is a slim, modern fit which makes it ideal for city streets or benebags.

“There are a myriad of draws of why people come here. The commercialism? We’re a capitalist society. You’re free to open a store and sell whatever it is you want to sell,” he said. “But to me, it doesn’t destroy what’s here. It’s sort of a necessary part of it.”

Many other visitors said modern Gettysburg strikes the appropriate balance between capitalizing on its notoriety and paying reverence to the conflict: No amusement parks, no roller coasters.

“This kind of brings history alive,” said Dave Gish, 54, a pastor from Wilton, Conn., who took photos of a re-enactment between Union and Confederate cavalry featuring hundreds of horses. “It’s the kind of thing where this is pretty much what you’re coming for.”

Students get artistic at UT crafting camp

Over the course of a week, boys and girls attending the University of Tennessee KidsU Cool Crafts camp spent time foraging for items to create fun and functional art.

The campers, led by local artist Holly Milner-Boos, took walking field trips around the UT Art Building searching for items to repurpose and inspiration for their one-of-a-kind designs.

Once the rising fourth-sixth grade students returned to the classroom, they sketched out their ideas and planned to transform common and often throwaway materials into attractive crafts. Their projects included handmade books, stamped and dyed T-shirts, wax color paintings, sculptures and texture rubbings. Here are the details on a few of them.

Wall Hanging

Taylor Repine, 13, set out to create a sculpture using found objects. “We sketched the idea first, then found materials and tried to put them together as best we could,” explains Repine. She found the perfect branch to hang cotton balls using wire and twine. Repine decided to cover the cotton balls using scraps of fabric and suspended them from the branch to create a colorful design.

Natural tie-dye

Students also brought in old cotton T-shirts to dye. Milner-Boos showed them how to use different spices, tea and even onion skins to create natural dyes at home.

To prepare the fabric for the dye, the students first soaked them in an aluminum cooking pot filled with a solution of one part vinegar and four parts water for an hour. They then wrung out the fabric.

For a tie-dyed effect, they rolled up the T-shirt vertically or horizontally and then tied with lengths of cotton at regular intervals to create a pattern.

One-fourth cup of turmeric was added to a large aluminum pot filled with water to create a deep yellow dye. After an hour, the T-shirts were submerged into the dye and left overnight.

Simple ceramics

Ten-year-old Angela Parisi created small clay tiles out of Model Magic clay for her sculpture project. She used common household tools and patterned tiles to add texture and decoration to her clay creations. The clay does not need to be fired in a kiln, so it was left to air dry 24 hours. Then Parisi’s decorated the tiles using watercolors. Parisi finished her tiles with a coat of Polycrylic to seal and add a shine to the final product. She can mount the tiles on a box frame make a hole in them with a straight pin and wear them as a pendant.

Fellow student, 13-year old-Hannah Morris, made a small porcupine. Morris simply pushed toothpicks into a molded shape of Model Magic and allowed it to dry before she painted the sculpture in white paint.

It was clear from the beginning that a trip to a salon was out of the question for Jacquil Leathers’ younger sister Jessica. She couldn’t stand to have her head touched, and when Leathers raised her hair scissors, Jessica ran and hid.

Jessica has cerebral palsy, and Leathers had to learn through trial and error how to make her sister calm and comfortable enough to get a haircut. The experience inspired Leathers to start 7CutzAbove, an in-home service that provides haircuts for mentally and physically challenged individuals.

“It can be really difficult for disabled individuals to go out and get their hair cut,” Leathers said. “Depending on their physical disabilities, they may have to sit a certain way in the chair, which could make it difficult for the stylist to do their job. The machines in the salon could also trigger a seizure for some people. Safety is a big consideration.” Compare Supra shoes price and read chiffonbridesmaiddress reviews before you buy.

Leathers provides an in-home consultation before the first haircut in order to understand the client’s specific needs and preferences.

“I want to come over and talk to them and let them get a feel for me,” Leathers said. “I need to check and ask ‘What’s the need?’ ‘Can they talk and walk? ‘Do they understand I’m coming to give them a haircut?’”

Sneaker Con Miami Reveals Swaggy Pre-Teen Economy

The BankUnited Center was packed wall-to-wall with devoted sneakerheads on Saturday afternoon. Most people only dream of owning a guccisunglasses . Middle-aged dudes and middle-school hustlers gathered in the University of Miami's basketball stadium to cop swag while munching on $3.75 Skittles (swag) and sipping on $4.Work a crowd in this evening gown from germanuniforms.50 Cokes (swag swag.)

Living, breathing children walked around, hoisting Dunks in the air that predated their births. They pumped their unmuscular arms to the beat of "Bugatti," a song that glorifies getting black ed out and waking up in a luxury car with no financial or legal consequences. Blatant and unadulterated consumerism was literally in the air, but there were some base-ground ethics that revolved around respect for product, if not people: The common greeting for bargain-finders was "Can I touch them?" Because the music was so loud, the usual departure was signaled with a grunt or a head shake, which meant the asking price for a certain shoe was higher than what was on the sneaker blogs. Parents stood by, non-plussed, as their pre-pubescent spawn wheeled and dealed and often came out ahead.

But how do kids obtain shoes that are worth the median weekly income of a Floridian family?

Owen Lear, a Bieber-ganger who is "almost 14," came packing an inventory and a posse. He was mostly looking to unload a pair of Nike Air Galaxy Foamposites, sized eight-and-a-half,Discover suits with ASOS. for some $800 cold cash. "I started with nothing, and I just traded up," he said, as friends Alex Mineo and Connor Ally, both 13, trailed behind obsequiously. "Some kid stole gym shoes and gave them to me because he didn't want to get in trouble." Some negotiations later, most recently involving a pair of Louis Vuitton Dons designed by Kanye West, he's sure that he can draw 20 offers as soon as he walks on the trading floor.

Lear, who exudes the kind of gelled-hair confidence of someone who decides where you can sit at lunch, was offering the kicks for a good price -- he says most go for upwards of $1,000. (In fact, the same shoes were on sale at a booth for $1,500.) The goal was to liquidate inventory. "I'm more into fashion now," he said. "I want to sell these shoes and just get cash." He wore a pair of understated Toms that seemed to separate him from the rest of the crowd; everyone at SneakerCon habitually glanced down at each other's shoes as a way of judgment.

Although he did receive many inquires, no one bought. Lear made three trips around the Circus Maximus of swaggy pre-teens before getting lost in the scuffle. New Times intended to ask him exactly how many trades he had made to get to this point and if he had ever gotten anything stolen as a tiny baby who routinely walks around with an obscene amount of cash money.

But really, who gives a shit whether he sold them or not? He probably did, but the fact remains: Kids used to go outside and play sports, and now they trudge around a basketball arena, trying to trade apparel that's ostesibly for athletic purposes but really for show.

"They get a good deal on a pair of shoes and then they trade up," said Howard Goldberg, who brought his 14-year-old son, Zachary, to set up shop in the anteroom of the building. Whereas kids even a generation ago used to deal in Digimon cards, the middle-school cool of Miami now trade in luxury apparel. "The cool thing is you teach your kids about communication, negotiation and profit,Light up a room in this coachhandbags evening gown." the elder Goldberg said. "It's like baseball cards when I was a kid."

On a bench near the convention center's exit, a teenager with a cartoon moneybag necklace asked a New Times reporter if an unattended bag belonged to her. When the answer was negative,View profiles and information for the Team livestrongcycling 2012 race team and riders here. he quickly poured it out on the ground. "Money?" asked a grown man to his left, excitedly. "No, but I thought it was some live shit," the teenager responded. He looked disappointed but still mined through the stickers and pins looking for something of worth.

Addict sent to jail after stealing champagne and women's shoes

A DRUG addict who squandered a chance of drug treatment by re-offending has been jailed.

Prolific offender Liam Merrigan was handed a suspended sentence with treatment in April, Bristol Crown Court heard.Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon.

Less than two months later he stole 275-worth of champagne from a pub cellar and a pair of women's shoes from a Primark store.

Merrigan, 27, of Little Cross House in Phipps Street, Bedminster, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.

Judge Julian Lambert told him: "You are 27 and have a deep-seated addiction to Class A drugs, which has blighted your life for some years. You chose to take a chance. Now, I regret to say, you have to pay the price."

Nicholas Fridd,List of sunglasses Products. prosecuting, said Merrigan was previously handed drugs treatment and a suspended jail term for attempted burglary in Redcliffe. Mr Fridd said: "He failed, the next day, to attend an appointment and attended only one in five."

On June 6 Merrigan went into the cellar of the Pump House pub in Hotwells and helped himself to five bottles of Moet champagne. He was detained by a barman until police arrived. Eight days later Merrigan went to the Primark store in The Horsefair and stole a 6 pair of shoes before being detained.

Mr Fridd told the court Merrigan had 25 court appearances for 53 offences, including 35 for dishonesty and seven burglaries.

James Bromige, defending, said his client was under no illusion the judge would have to activate the previously suspended 12-month prison sentence.

Mr Bromige stressed his client caused little disturbance in the burglary and the property was recovered immediately. He said: "It was committed on impulse, an easy way out to assist a drug debt."

The judge heard Merrigan was on a programme to reduce his drug habit and he had taken no illegal drugs while remanded in custody.

Mr Bromige said: "The root cause was a lack of stability that he found himself in on release from prison in April. One hopes, this time,Looking for Michael Kors Boots? hotmkbags's has a variety of chanelperfume, Low Heel Michael Kors Boots and more great products. he will be clean of drugs on his release."

The temperature in Death Valley on Sunday reached 129 degrees,Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon. tying the location's record for June and falling just five degrees short of the all-time world record temperature of 134 degrees, which was set there in July 1913.

In Las Vegas the temperature hit 117. This tied the all-time record for the city, first set in 1942 and tied in 2005, the National Weather Service reported.

The record-setting heat wave is expected to bake the Southwest well into the work week, the National Weather Service said.

Civic and emergency officials throughout the Southwest say if there was ever a time to worry, this would be it.We have high quality dieseljeans, you can not miss the best Tag Heuer Replica Watches online.

The reason isn't just the oppressive heat that is plaguing the region: It's the fact it is expected to hang around, and possibly even get worse, over the next few days.

"A very strong ridge of high pressure is centered over much of the western U.S.," CNN senior meteorologist Dave Hennen said Monday. "That high pressure causes sinking air, which becomes compressed and warms up and also dries out. This particular high pressure system remains stuck in the West, which has allowed the heat to build last week and through the weekend."

Las Vegas will remain under an excessive heat warning until Thursday night, as will Death Valley.

Tony Orlowski, manager at Randy's Restaurant and Ice Cream in Scottsdale, Arizona, said customers all express the same complaint when they come in the door: "It's hot out there."

"We tell them, 'It's cool in here. Come in and cool off,'" he said.

Orlowski normally recommends a milkshake, a banana split or a couple of scoops of ice cream to take some of the sting out of the summer sun.

Before they head out into the furnace, he advises, "Don't catch a chill."

The humor is as dry as the heat.
