When you fail your master's degree dissertation, your options become
somewhat limited. You could try rewriting it,Wholesale high quality and mencanadagoose
Wait for You to Choose. delay your graduation or perhaps appeal the
grade, but Li Yang, a 26-year-old Chinese graduate student studying at
the UK's University of Bath, recently discovered you should not try to
bribe your professor.
And under no circumstances should you take
a replica air pistol into the room, and casually have it "fall" out of
your coat after your $5,000 ($7,786) bribe was rejected.
Li was sentenced to a year in jail after attempting to bribe his professor, Andrew Graves, on November 23, 2012.Tulle Strapless cheapmotherbridedresses with Tea-Length Pleated ... Li had received a 37 percent grade on his dissertation, just short of the 40 percent required.
Li's
lawyer claimed that the act was impulsive, and that he had only been
carrying the gun to feel safe. This did not sway the judge, who in
response to Li's guilty plea, ruled on April 23 that Li's act had
"undermined the integrity of universities in the UK and the legitimacy
of degrees from universities here." Li was found guilty of bribery and
possessing an imitation firearm in a public place.
The case put a
spotlight on the deeds and misdeeds of Chinese students overseas, who
may not understand the rules of the foreign country, or the fact that
authorities may be less likely to overlook their indiscretions.
Li
was originally charged with possession of a firearm and intentionally
threatening others. "He would have served four to six years if convicted
of that," Kang Qing,Shop for high quality laceweddingveils dress products ! one of Li's lawyers,All saxobankcycling and accessories are made with the same authentic materials as the originals. told the Global Times.
Li's
good character and remorse were taken into consideration by the judge,
however, his identity as "the son of a respected official and
businessman in China" ignited outrage in China, where many are keen to
criticize "the official-businessman" class over a perceived willingness
to break or bend laws for personal gain.
In cases involving
international students and academic fraud, Chinese students have
repeatedly been highlighted as likely offenders, particularly during the
admissions process. In one example in New Zealand in November, 231
Chinese students were involved in a scandal of faked applications,
resulting in 16 of them being deported.
A 2010 report by Zinch, a
popular US education website, reminded US universities to watch out for
fabricated recommendation letters, essays, transcripts, financial aid
applications and awards of Chinese students.
"We have
difficulties doing background checks on every applicant so we are
inviting more alumni to help with interviews for more stringent
screening," an admissions officer with the University of Virginia told
the Global Times.
"Parents help their children polish their poor
transcripts or troubled background by pulling strings, and we hear
stories of them being punished for this while overseas every year, which
means it's also a problem in terms of families and education," a senior
admissions consultant in Beijing who asked to remain anonymous,Buy

Problems
continue during college studies. Gifts including scarves or wine are
frequently given to professors by Chinese students "in exchange for a
good impression, or sometimes explicitly to get a better grade on the
final exam," said Helena Shi, a senior at the University of Minnesota, a
sentiment echoed by a number of students studying in various countries
that the Global Times spoke to.
"It's a cultural tradition in
China called reciprocity, but is often rejected here (in the US) if you
have an agenda. To me, logically, it seems no different to bribery," Shi
told the Global Times.
Li's punishment has prompted reflection
on the current status quo in China. "It's no secret that many people
give bribes in order to get project funds or publish papers at many
institutions. We feel angry but are struggling to change the entire
system," a professor surnamed Shao with Peking University told the
Global Times.
"I learned my biggest lesson ever while serving a
month last year, after speeding at almost twice the limit and attempting
to flee from the police. I intuitively tried to sneak some cash to the
cop, but was stopped by my friend, who said it would be worse if I did,"
a New York-based student surnamed Lu told the Global Times.
His US driver's license was permanently revoked and the incident also cost him his working visa.
However,
there are factors that make bribery a more attractive choice in China.
According to the criminal law, bribe-taking has a lower threshold before
it constitutes a crime and a tougher punishment than bribery, which
makes the legal costs smaller. At the same time, those found guilty of
bribery can have their penalties reduced by providing evidence to law
enforcers.
"On the other hand, those who offer bribes are often
considered the weak party compared with the more powerful bribe-takers,
and the public likes to see corrupt officials being punished - this
eventually formed an attitude in society where using money or gifts in
exchange for interests is not 'bribery' or crime, but a 'favor,'" Guo
Rui, a Beijing-based attorney, told the Global Times.
Shao noted
that Chinese traditions that place a high priority on status might have
also resulted in the situation. "You don't want to lose, so
counterfeiting and exchanging favors are simple ways to reach the goal
that were otherwise unattainable," he said.
There are many,
however, who think this is no excuse. "Cultural difference is not a fig
leaf of ignorance of the law or an excuse to evade responsibility," said
Xue Yong, assistant professor at Suffolk University in Boston, in his
Sina column.

Sanchez, Herrera, de la Renta show bridal looks
Elegance and simplicity with a
touch of risk: They are the basic ingredients in the newest bridal collections
by Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Angel Sanchez that emphasized
voluminous skirts, sharp pleats, sparkles and floral motifs.
These Latin designers are known to make some of the most elaborate, influential and popular gowns in the New York bridal market, which recently held a series of runway previews of gowns that likely will be headed down the aisle.
From de la Renta's signature highly elaborate designs to Sanchez's architectural triangular creases in the neckline, there were many sophisticated and innovative options that showed attention to detail.
"Architecture is my resource to achieve proportion, line, but to me, the materials, the detail to the ornament,Work a crowd in this evening gown from germanuniforms. help make women look beautiful. This collection really has that balance," Sanchez said after his show on Monday.Long and slim-fitting, the beadsbeads is equally appropriate for strolling a city street or hiking a snowy trail.
"I don't find it to be that daring. I see it as a collection that shows the back, that has things that remind of something sexy, but is so veiled, so discreet, so romantic, that it would never look vulgar. I tried to avoid sexiness being transformed into something obvious," he added.
Venezuelan Sanchez stayed faithful to modern dresses with his characteristic play on geometry. A bit of glitz came from the gemstones used to define thin belts. He also included designs that left the back uncovered and others that seemed to arise from a fairy tale.
Sanchez, who designed wedding gowns for Eva Longoria and Sandra Bullock, explained that instead of presenting two bridal collections a year this time he focused only in this one, with a total of 25 pieces. "I wanted a well-thought proposal. I took my time with this collection," he said. "What puts it all together in this collection is the ethereal. For me, a bridal grown has to offer lightness. Something ethereal is per se romantic."
De la Renta made the most out of organza and lace, giving his brides floral designs and strategic use of sheer materials. He left the shoulders bare and opted for voluminous and elaborated skirts. It wasn't an entirely white runway, with de la Renta using occasional flashes of pastel colors, starting his show with a blue dress and including another in pink with details in white lace.
Silk and long veils were key elements to his collection, as well as the use of beadwork. The Dominican Republic-born De la Renta greeted the crowd with a generous smile at the end of his show.
Elaborate embroidery on otherwise simple silhouettes defined Herrera's collection. The Venezuelan-born designer covered arms in lace or with a cape tied to a bow. She included platinum, gold and even some grey in her color palette.
"Carolina Herrera designs each wedding dress to be unique, evocative of the bride's personal style and embodying the spirit of the wedding day — with never a reference trend," according to her house statement offered to the press.
With this collection, the designer also launched her first blog, "The Carolina Herrera Bride," and described it as a resource to brides around the world.

Christina Aguilera is slim and sleek at Time 100 gala
Christina Aguilera was slim
and sleek at the Time 100 gala Tuesday for the magazine's celebration of its 100
most influential people.
Aguilera, 32, and formerly a mentor on the "The Voice," wore a black Victoria Beckham cutout gown with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels, according to Us Weekly.
The singer posed for photos with fellow honoree Miguel and laughed with "Girls" creator Lena Dunham on the red carpet Tuesday night.
The mentor, whose fluctuating weight and excessive makeup on the "The Voice" were a point of frequent teasing, turned heads at the show's Season 4 premiere in March when she made a surprise appearance on the red carpet. She was fresh-faced and wore a flirty LBD that showed off her noticeably slimmer figure and toned legs. She also showed off her slimdown in the music video for "Your Body," in which she pranced around in body-hugging outfits, teeny-tiny camis and bright lingerie.

So now the "Feel This Moment" singer's body is influential too ...
"I'm very honored to be part of the #TIME100 list and for the wonderful words from Celine Dion. Thank you! XoXtina" Aguilera tweeted.
The magazine released seven covers for the issue this year but Aguilera was not included. So her fans created an honorary Time 100 cover image featuring her, which she shared Monday on Twitter.
Grammy-winning singer Celine Dion sang Aguilera's praises "as one of the most talented artists the world has ever seen and heard" in her short essay explaining Aguilera's inclusion on the list.
"The first time I heard Christina Aguilera sing, I was totally blown away. I love the way she sings. Her tone is beautiful, and her voice has got so much power, yet so much sensitivity — and technically, I think, she's flawless," Dion wrote.

Dion recalled how Aguilera, whose single "Genie in a Bottle" launched her to fame, hit the scene at the turn of the millennium and how she'd see her constantly on TV and at awards show.
"I remember thinking, this girl's got it all and then some! Unbelievable voice, great dancer and so very beautiful," Dion said. "At that time, I didn't realize how versatile she was, but over the years she has proved that she can sing anything and make it sound incredible: pop, soul, R&B and even country."
However, The Times' TV writer Greg Braxton disagreed with Aguilera's selection for the most influential people.
"Aguilera attempted to revive her sagging singing career and erase the memory of her awkward movie debut in 'Burlesque' by enlisting as a judge on NBC's 'The Voice.' What not to wear.A dressing-down on dressing down
What is the guy in front of me in
line proclaiming with his pajama bottoms? And the woman behind me in an oversize
white tank top that shows every inch of her black bra, what is her proclamation?
Is the guy revealing 80 percent of his boxers sending a message?
There is a lot of fashion advice today from books, blogs, and TV shows. But we need less advice on our color palettes and more guidance on what is just plain inappropriate to wear out in the world. We have lost the subtle internal rule book that tells one not to show up at a nice restaurant in a dirty T-shirt, flip-flops, and ripped jeans; not to wear a skirt the size of a dish towel to school or a religious sanctuary; and not, not, not to feel the need to reveal one's underwear to the public.
In 1970, my friends and I shivered at the bus stop in rural Wisconsin wearing skirts and knee socks because the school dress code did not allow girls to wear pants, even if it was 10 degrees out. I railed against that oppressive set of rules, but now sometimes I long for at least some boundaries in terms of how people dress. Today, the young and not-so-young too often clad themselves in a way that shows a lack of respect for an occasion. In the world of etiquette, that's impolite.
A funeral isn't the place for a miniskirt and 5-inch designer heels. A lot of cleavage may play on the Oscar red carpet or your honeymoon, but it's not appropriate for a Tuesday morning at the office or in school. In fact, it's bad manners.
Stephen Gambescia, an associate professor in Drexel's College of Nursing and Health Professionals and assistant dean of academic and student affairs, wears a coat and tie every day as a quiet message to students.
"They need to understand to put the 'bar,' if you will, higher," he said. Carolyn Verdi, owner of Carolyn Verdi Boutique on Pine Street, said: "One of my biggest pet peeves is people not dressing properly. I'm amazed how people dress. There will be a nice venue for a wedding and men and women show up in a casual shirt and pants." Even on New Year's Eve, people line up at lovely restaurants in sweatshirts and baseball hats. "There's a place for that," she said, but not on a dressy occasion.

Yet even leaders in a community are uncomfortable telling people that their clothing is inappropriate.
Richard Address, senior rabbi of Congregation M'Kor Shalom in Cherry Hill, has seen a change in the way people dress for religious services in his 30 years as a rabbi. Now, many services have adapted and allow a more casual dress, including congregations meeting in the summer and close to the Shore, and that is acceptable, he said. Two TD win for ’Jacket baseball
Bad hand and all, Williamstown's Eli Gray hit a
three-run homer and finished the game with five runs batted in as the
Yellowjackets defeated Belpre, 21-7, Tuesday in five innings.
Gray injured his throwing hand last week and felt some discomfort trying to grip the bat but gave his coach the green light that he was ready for action against the Golden Eagles.
"I fell on a set of steps and just hurt my hand," said Gray,Buy beachweddingdresses at the online outlet. who flew out to left field in an attempt to homer in the same inning which resulted in 14 Williamstown batters making a plate appearance and nine runs scoring in the bottom of the third inning.
"On that home run, I didn't really feel the pain," Gray continued. "The ball went off the sweet spot of the bat then went over the fence. I thought it was a pop up at first, but it kept on carrying."
All told, Williamstown pounded out 18 hits, including seven for extra base hits. Out of the No. 5 hole in the Yellowjacket batting order, Jake Tracewell went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and one RBI. Teammate Josh DeBolt contributed two doubles and drove in three runs, while Dakota Watson was credited with three RBIs.
Seven Williamstown hitters enjoyed multi-hit games.
"You don't know what kind of pitching you are going to see," Williamstown coach Terry Smith said after his ballclub improved to 10-5.Fill your closet with buywatches and be ready to step out for any activity.
The momentum sided with Belpre at the outset as the Golden Eagles scored four runs on four hits in the top of the first inning. Alex Perry led off the game with a walk, stole second then scored on Tavian Miller's one-out double.
Cleanup hitter Ryan Epperly followed with a single to right field, but Miller was gunned down at the plate when right fielder Landon Travis hit the cutoff and first baseman Avery Goff threw a strike to catcher Josh DeBolt, who had the plate blocked for the out.
Williamstown was nearly out of the woods, but Dakota McDaniel hit a bases-loaded double with two outs that drove in three runs for a Belpre 4-0 advantage.
The Yellowjacket offense was the recipient of a pair of one-out walks in the bottom of the first inning and both runners eventually scored, first on a balk and then on Jake Tracewell's two-out double.

All told, Williamstown pounded out 18 hits, including seven for extra base hits. Out of the No. 5 hole in the Yellowjacket batting order, Jake Tracewell went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and one RBI. FYP’s outstanding cast of ‘The Wedding Singer’ rises above technical difficulties
The stage was set for a concert straight from the Reagan
administration.
When Robbie Hart started rocking out with his wedding band, the audience soon realized this wasn’t your standard musical. Neon lights flashed, dancers in taffeta dresses flew through the air and electric guitars riffed power chords.
As the opening song neared its end, Hart assumed power stance, solidifying the electricity that the remainder of the performance would need to live up to.
The First Year Players’ production of “The Wedding Singer,Shop the latest authentichandbags on the world's largest fashion site.” the musical adaptation of Adam Sandler’s cult hit movie, opened on Thursday for its three-night run. With one of the most talented casts in FYP’s recent history, the show certainly had all the right elements to secure an extraordinary night at the theater.Short Sleeve Blue Lace Fashion Long 2012 Embroidery Latest authenticcoat. Inconsistency, however, played a part in hindering the young cast from fully achieving heights that were just at arms reach.
“The Wedding Singer” tells the story of Robbie, the leader of a wedding band in mid-1980s New Jersey who loses himself after being jilted at the alter by his fiance. He finds solace in Julia, a waitress who he befriends and who helps him get back on his feet.
It becomes clear that the two are meant for one another, but Julia’s greedy Wall Street investor fiance Glenn, as well as other roadblocks, stand in their way. With the help of his band mates and his grandma, Robbie ponders: Does true love prevail over the things in life we only think matter?
While enjoying a short-lived but hugely adored Broadway run in 2006, “The Wedding Singer” went on to be nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The beauty of a student-run theater organization like FYP is the sense of community it fosters for its new members each year, as well as the one it maintains for its alumni throughout their time at Syracuse University.
The show’s director, junior television, radio and film major Bryce Garcia, remembers his turn on the stage in 2011’s “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” “like it was yesterday.” Now, as the chief visionary for this year’s incarnation, he said he’s delighted at the chance to work with the new class.
“It’s been so great bringing these talented freshmen into the family,” Garcia said.
Putting on a comedy like “The Wedding Singer” that leans toward the lighter side of the musical theater repertoire seems like the easier route to take. However, Garcia claims the show is deceivingly complex, underrated among many of the other musicals considered for this year’s production.
“It’s fun, but very technical at the same time,” Garcia said, referring to the complex rock-show staging and music required of each performance.
Such is where the production met occasional hiccups. The hidden difficulties behind “The Wedding Singer’s” approachable facade, including numbers that suffered from being overworked, kept FYP’s performance from being excellent.
In particular, the second act’s top number, “All About the Green,” a song proclaiming greed and all that defined the 1980s, had its hand in too many visually appealing tactics, forcing it to look sloppy.Shop for beadsbeads to coordinate with all the most popular wedding colors and styles.
As with any opening night, technical difficulties with microphones had their way with the young cast. Despite these set backs, the actors maintained utter professionalism, never wavering in their performances.
Shining brightest of all was leading man Zack Phillips, a freshman television, radio and film major, whose charm, seemingly endless vocal talent and sympathetic qualities radiated from the stage in his performance as Robbie.
While needing the show’s first number to ease into the role, he found his footing and proved unstoppable until the very end. First U.S. Teen With Down Syndrome Reaches Mt. Everest Base Camp
A courageous young man from Oregon made history with the first
recorded account of an American teenager with Down syndrome to reach a
base camp of Mt. Everest. After nearly two weeks of walking, 15-year
old Eli Reimer reached 17,Formal royaloak

son for the ascent in an effort to raise funds for their family’s
charity,Buy formaldressesevening at the online outlet. The Elisha Foundation.
“It was surreal,” Justin Reimer told HLN in an interview. “To be standing there at that place and see the smile on Eli’s face and the sense of accomplishment that he had, and the fact that his health was better than any of us at that point… it was humbling, it was inspiring, just an amazing moment.”
The father and son duo ultimately raised $85,000 for The Elisha Foundation, which says it offers professional and educational support to families with special-needs children.
“For anybody who has a child with a disability or who is impacted in some way … the disability is not a limitation,” said Justin Reimer, adding that Eli’s life “and the lives of those with disabilities have infinite worth.”
Tragically, ninety percent of unborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. This is the third weddinggown I have owned . This extreme form of discrimination against special needs kids has reached epidemic proportions in a society that places greater value on the perfect, the convenient and the planned.
The New York Times ran an editorial by Alison Piepmeier entitled “Outlawing Abortion Won’t Help Children with Down Syndrome.” Piepmeier defends discarding a child solely because he or she may have special needs.
Piepmeier’s concludes her piece saying, “Let women have abortions for whatever reason they choose, but make it a world they would like to bring a child into — even a child with an intellectual disability.”
The solution to our society’s problems cannot be ending the lives of those to whom problems happen. In order to create a society that truly respects people with special needs we must begin with protecting their fundamental right to life.
It is a sad commentary on the state of society that we would work hard to ensure educational or occupational opportunities for people with Down syndrome but still allow them to be ripped limb from limb in violent abortion procedures.
True progress cannot be achieved for people with special needs if we’re approaching the issue with the mindset that some people are better off dead than alive. As Eli Reimer’s father noted, “the lives of those with disabilities have infinite worth.Shop the latest canadagoosewhistlerparka on the world's largest fashion .Choosing and adjusting a beautifulsheathweddingdresses. aaaarrky.” That is the starting point and from there we will build a society that respects people with Down syndrome at all stages of their lives.

Is the U.S. Postal Service Really Tampering with Atheist Shoes?
A German shoe
company claims that packages sealed with their “ATHEIST” brand tape are
mysteriously going missing when under the care of the United States Postal
Service (USPS).
The ATHEIST SHOES company, staffed by a group of “shoemakers & artists” in Berlin, Germany, have customers all over the world, but recently grew concerned when customers in the United States complained about missing packages and asked them not to use “ATHEIST” branded tape to cover the packages because, the customers said, anti-atheist discrimination might be at play.
So, like any good critically thinking company would, ATHEIST SHOES decided to conduct a quick study.
Is The USPS Really Biased Against ATHEIST Shoes?
The company sent 178 sealed packages to 89 people in 49 different U.S. states. Each person was sent two packages. One package was sealed with ATHEIST-branded packing tape,Compare Supra shoes price and read beachweddingdresses reviews before you buy. the other neutral tape.
As the packages were all dispatched on the same date, November 21,See all the looks from the supraskateshoes Haute Couture autumn/winter 2012 collection. 2012, they should all have been handled in roughly the same time frame.
The company found that ATHEIST-branded packages took on average three days longer to reach their destinations, while 9 atheist packages went missing compared to just one non-branded package.
The company notes that it took one ATHEIST-branded package 37 days to reach a buyer in Michigan, and for apparently no good reason.
The company then ran a series of control tests in Germany and across Europe to see whether a similar pattern emerged. It didn’t.
The company concludes, “… the problem appears to lie in the USA and is likely explained by the differential handling of packages by the employees of the US Postal Service.”
They go on to conclude, “this seems to be a national problem — traditionally less religious and more liberal states also saw high levels of delay and disappearance.”
What Is ATHEIST SHOES Doing About This Problem?
Well, they’re no longer using ATHEIST brand packing-tape for USA deliveries and report that delivery times have already improved. All cheapmotherbridedresses come in sizes 0-28.However, there is a size charge for sizes 18-28.
Second, they’ve made international headlines with their claim that certain members of the USPS might be committing a federal offense by purposefully tampering with or impeding ATHEIST branded packages.
With that media attention, however, has come the accusation that the company is guilty of confirmation bias–that ATHEIST SHOES went into this study with the outcome already in mind.
However, the company has defended itself, saying that a forthcoming release of their data will demonstrate clearly that they were rigorous in their methods and that while the study could have been improved, with package recipients chosen at random for instance, the study was basically sound,A chapeltraingown, often called a seat, is one of three contact points on an upright bicycle, the others being the pedals and the handlebars. a claim several statisticians have supported.
ATHEIST SHOES has also answered the concern that the problem could lie with Customs instead of USPS.Discover the largest collection of canadagoosecalgaryjacket for women. Based on data they have collected in the past, Customs has only ever held back about 1% of packages, which in no way accounts for the kind of numbers they’ve been seeing — though the company expresses a desire to take steps to control and explore this angle at a later date.
Indeed, and most interesting of all, subsequent updates on the ATHEIST SHOES website have noted that while the USPS has so far failed to respond to the study, an unnamed professor from “a leading U.S. University” has reportedly offered to assist the company in the write-up of its research, along with providing funding for further studies in this vein.
Whether further studies ultimately prove a significant bias problem in how the USPS handles “atheist” and perhaps other branded packages, this study has been a marketing dream for ATHEIST SHOES as it has earned them the kind of press interest that even million dollar campaigns fail to provide.

Midwest Charitable Clothing Company Offers Limited Time Discount on Shirts That Raise Money for Charity
Changing the world as an individual can be an
overwhelming task to say the least, but changing the world as a society or
generation starts to become more realistic. That is exactly the message that PIF
Apparel is sharing with their customers. The company sells t-shirts to help
raise money for charity, allowing customers to decide which organization
receives the funds. PIF is also teaching its customers how to make sure that
their generosity will make a lasting impact by only promoting non-profits that
have a high level of financial integrity.
PIF Apparel has just announced that it will be offering its customers a limited time offer of 10% off two or more items (Promo code: PIFVIP1) from now until April 8th. Customers that choose to shop with PIF do not normally get the opportunity for additional savings. The company has priced its line of high-quality t-shirts to be competitive with similar style t-shirts offered through many popular chain stores. The sale is not an extravagant door buster but considering that the company gives away 25% of everything they sell to charity they understandably have much tighter margins to work with.
“We don’t typically run sales, but we wanted to use this promotion to help drive some additional volume for our March and April charity partners.
