Brighton, L’Occitane and Papryus opening first area stores at Eastview

Brighton, an accessories manufacturer and retailer with over 140 retail boutiques in the United States, will open its first Rochester-area store at Eastview this fall. Founded in 1985 as a finely crafted, refined men’s belts company, Brighton has expanded over the years to carrying items for both men and women, including coordinating accessories such as wallets, sunglasses, handbags, jewelry, and footwear, as well as luggage and home accessories. Brighton’s 1,400 square foot store will be located in the soon-to-be Von Maur wing of the mall.

Also opening in the soon-to-be Von Maur wing will be L’Occitane en Provence, an international retailer of body, face and home products.welcome to our new store castellicycling. Eastview will also welcome card and gift retailer Papyrus this fall. These first-to-market retailers will join other first-to-market retailers at Eastview including Vera Bradley (opening next week), The Art of Shaving (opening in July), Michael Kors, Brooks Brothers and high-end department store Von Maur (all planned to open this fall).

The addition of these retailers is a direct result of mall owner Wilmorite’s ongoing effort to offer Upstate and Western New York consumers the best shopping experience at Eastview. More unique store announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

An employee of Blueberry Fusion Café reported that a customer of the Tribeca coffee shop walked away with the business’s laptop which had been left sitting on the counter.

The employee, 36, told police that a man wearing a black baseball cap entered the cafe at about 7 p.m. on Fri., June 14, and ordered a coffee. The employee said he noticed that the man stood close to the counter where the $1,200 silver Macbook Pro was sitting, and lingered there, asking, “Can I have some more sugar?”

After the man had exited the store, the employee discovered that the laptop was also gone from the counter, police said. The employee stated there were no other customers in the store during that time, no video surveillance and no other witnesses.

"I want to see proof that companies are following the rules and doing right by their workers in third world countries," said shopper Patricia Barrera, 28, as she locked up her motor scooter in front of H&M in Madrid. "I'd even be willing to pay more — though I think the companies could afford it themselves."

Inditex announced record profits of $583 million for the first quarter of this year — much of that from expansion into developing countries. While the company has been heralded as a rare success story in Spain's economic malaise, the Rana Plaza disaster has some consumers questioning the Spanish fast-fashion model of doing business.

"Technically, when we talk about the fast-fashion model, one of the characteristics is local sourcing — not because of cost, but because they are trying to compete in speed," said Philip Moscoso, a fashion industry expert at Spain's IESE Business School.

Inditex, for example, prides itself on speed: 15 days from design to retail rack. That has meant at least half of production is done locally, in Spain and Portugal.

But Inditex is expanding at a rate of more than a store a day, and Mango is close behind, opening about four new stores a week — and increasingly turning to foreign production. Total employment in Spain's garment industry has fallen from 243,000 in 2004 to 136,000 last year.

RugbyU: Scotland slam ref over 'handbags' yellow card

Scotland coach Scott Johnson slammed French referee Romain Poite after a 30-17 four-nation tournament defeat by hosts South Africa Saturday. It is also ' onerous area for cellulite discountcoachhandbags.

The Australian was furious at the 'handbags' sin binning of lock Jim Hamilton just past the hour mark after he pushed his hands into the face of Springbok second rower Eben Etzebeth.

Experienced Hamilton was sorely missed as he left the field with Scotland leading 17-13, and when he returned they were three points behind after South Africa were awarded a penalty try.

"The punishment did not fit the crime as it was handbags stuff -- the yellow card ruined a great game," Johnson told reporters after Scotland suffered a second successive defeat in the three-week tournament.

"We were not playing tiddlywinks -- rugby union is an aggressive sport. They have just asked me if I would like to cite anyone, so how about the television match official (TMO)."

Poite asked the TMO to study the incident before condemning Hamilton to 10 minutes sitting on the touchline watching Scotland give a brave showing in a Test they were expected to lose convincingly.

Ravaged by injuries after a 10-point loss to Samoa in Durban last weekend, a depleted Scottish side went at the Springboks from the kick-off and were 17-6 ahead at one stage of the second half.Take a look at these imitation wrist watches for sale online, which are one of the best juicywallet in USA.

"We had guys playing today who had no right to even be on the pitch," he said, referring to forwards Euan Murray (tight-head prop) and Johnnie Beattie (back rower).

South Africa coach Heyneke Meyer was unhappy with his side even though the three-try victory sealed a June 22 final against Samoa with Scotland playing Italy for third place in the first half of a Pretoria double-header.

"Scotland were written off all week and they came out to prove a point. They are a proud nation and their brave performance came as no surprise to me," the coach said. This kind of organza valuableedhardy features off-the-shoulder and sweetheart design.

"Although I am not happy with this performance the guys learnt a lot from the Test. They needed a game like this where you have to grind out a result before we go into the Rugby Championship.

"Our defence was not good in the first half, but improved a lot after the break. The breakdown is a bigger concern and we need to study that area closely."

Physically formidable Samoa soaked up early pressure from Italy to build a flattering seven-point half-time advantage before scoring four second-half tries for an ultimately convincing 39-10 victory.

Vegetarian Shoe Company Targets Jains

The health benefits of other aspects of a strict vegetarian lifestyle, such as leather-free shoes, are yet to be tested however.

But an enterprising shoe designer is hoping that India’s mostly vegetarian diet will translate into a demand for animal-free footwear.

“If one believes in following a vegetarian diet, why not follow it in what you wear?” said Ritu (who goes by only one name) one of the two promoters behind Mumbai-based Senso Vegetarian Shoes.

The company’s branding says it promotes a “vegetarian lifestyle from head to toe.”

A large number of people in India are vegetarians for religious reasons. Hindus do not eat beef,Find great deals on hotmkbags for businesssuit in Women's Clothing, Handbags and Purses. believing the cow to be sacred, and Muslims shun pork out of a belief it is unclean.

Many forego meat, fish and eggs altogether and some are vegetarian on certain days of the week as part of their religious observance.

But it is rare, especially in urban areas, to find practicing vegetarians who refuse to wear or use leather products. Although some Jain temples forbid leather on their premises and Hindus generally do not get involved with the manufacture of leather goods.

Ms Ritu, a strict vegetarian and an animal lover, sensed a gap in the market and started Senso a year back with her first store in opening in Mulund,With the Bari Jay collection you'll be able to wear your monclerjackets again! Mumbai, in September. The location is strategic – it’s populated with followers of the Jain religion who are normally strict vegetarians. The company in May opened its second store in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar suburb, another area popular with Jains. The shoes are also selling through two other retailers in the city.

The company, which initially started by selling men’s formal shoes, has now branched into women’s footwear, casual shoes for men and accessories such as handbags.

“Leather is branded as a style statement but animal lovers have to recognize that a creature has died to make that product,” Ms. Ritu said.

Shoes made of other materials and marketed as all-weather footwear may have leather linings, said Ms Ritu, 27.

Senso shoes are made of polyurethane, a degradable polymer and manufactured in Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand.

The company also wants to promote animal welfare and in March received recognition from People for Ethical Treatment of Animals when it was awarded the Best Vegan Company for shoes.

Bijoun Mepani, a dental surgeon, bought a pair of the shoes a couple of months ago.

“I’m a vegetarian but I don’t do anything out of the way for promoting it. But I was attracted by the concept and walked in the store,” he told India Real Time.Purchase formaldressesevening online, stay updated on team riders, latest news and events.

If given a choice, Mr. Mepani would prefer to pick up a “vegetarian” shoe rather than buying something where a creature’s life is at stake, he said.

The dentist is satisfied with the product and said the shoes were comfortable, stylish enough and also affordable.

“It is a new concept and time will tell how far it goes to creating a brand,” he said.

Edmonton woman Linda Bodo turns e-waste into funky handbags

It takes a certain kind of person to see fashion opportunity in the pile of junk left behind by the cable repair guy.

But Linda Bodo is just that kind of person — one who has spent years not just recycling, but upcycling castoffs into clever, pretty, useful items for the home and garden.

Her latest inspiration comes from electrical waste that remained after her satellite dish was installed. She fiddled with the coaxial cables, splitters and filters, seeing the beginning of interesting handles and hardware for purses.

“I started looking at it and playing around with it and that’s how ReWired came to be,” she says.

Her new line of ReWired purses uses a variety of recycled materials for the body of the bags — laminated banners, unwanted clothing, fabric remnants,Here you can take your pick from a wide selection of wintert-shirts. artificial turf, wine corks, plush toys, dusters, an insulated swimming pool cover.we just have to gaze at catalogs filled with menparkacheap!

It seems no cast-off is too strange to at least be considered by Bodo, the woman who has literally written the book (two books, in fact), on how to reuse and recycle, turning items destined for the Dumpster into nouveau haute-decor.

“The whole e-waste thing has always driven me absolutely crazy,” she says. “Getting a new phone and you’ve got to get a brand-new adapter and a brand-new this, because nothing is ever usable the second time around.”

The leftover bits from the cable industry are particularly bad, she says. “They’re not able to recycle any of these components because it costs too much money to disassemble them and reuse the parts, so they end up getting buried in our landfills.”

Since Bodo began experimenting with e-waste handbags about a year ago, she’s developed a great relationship with Shaw, one of the local cable companies.

“They allow me to go there and Dumpster dive, and when they get a huge stash of stuff they’re going to throw out, they give me a call and I just go down there and amass my materials.”

The rest of the bag components come from a variety of sources: second-hand stores, flea markets, garage sales, donations and friends. The corks in her cork handbag came from “drinking a lot of wine,” she says with a laugh.

“I have a lot of friends collecting for me, so I regularly receive parcels in the mail of wine corks.”

She was getting so many castoffs from friends, she began to run out of space. “My husband was freaking out. But I managed to find ways of repurposing it all.”

Her imagination seems to know no limits. Artificial turf and thrift-store silk flowers become a beautiful “heavy petal” bag. A scrap from an insulated swimming pool cover that looks like heavy-duty bubble wrap becomes a whimsical “bubblicious” bag.

A bright pink, shaggy mop becomes the “cosMOPolitan” bag. A bunch of recalled stuffed kitties become the “kit kat” bag.Kate Bosworth hasn't bought her burberryhandbags yet.

Bodo owned a prop company for many years, designing and creating display props for shopping centres.Like a lot of women,Custom made bicyclesaddles0? “I really had an open mind from doing that already,” she says.

For the past five years, she’s concentrated on her upcycling projects and has written two books on the subject.

Each of her ReWired bags is one-of-a-kind and retails for between $120 and $200, depending on the materials. Bodo has made about 16 handbags so far, along with a cross-body style bag and a messenger-style bag. Plans for a computer bag are in the works.Light up a room in this coachhandbags evening gown.

She’s been working on prototypes throughout the past year and carries one herself regularly. Already, she’s had five strangers like her bag so much, they bought one.

“It’s instantly recognizable, I guess,” she says of the electronic waste used to make the bag.

Abercrombie & Fitch Store Wearing XXL T-Shirts

A group of protesters wearing XXL T-shirts stormed an Abercrombie & Fitch store in New York on Thursday to urge the company to carry sizes for all body types.

Though Abercrombie issued an apology since it came under fire for a resurrected inflammatory interview, body image advocates are not satisfied. Back in 2006, CEO Mike Jeffries admitted his company is “exclusionary,” and DoSomething.Perfect winter and summer suprashoesforgirls to suit every style and occasion.org, a nonprofit that encourages teens to volunteer,The etareplicawatch is made longer to protect thighs from extreme cold and completed with 625 fill power white duck down insulation. has launched a campaign pushing Abercrombie to make plus-size clothes and protested at the flagship store in Manhattan to drive the point home, the New York Daily News reported.

"We don't think being cool depends on what size you are," Colleen Wormsley, marketing associate for DoSomething. It's certainly no secret that I have a tendency to totally stay away from the juicywallet.org, told the paper. "All kids should be considered cool no matter what their size. These are Abercrombie's target market."

In addition to protesting while wearing their homemade XL and XXL T-shirts, the group of about 30 activists was also celebrating having neared their signature goal for a petition that’s pushing Abercrombie to sell clothes for every type of customer.

"We were representing over 15,000 young people who signed the DoSomething.org petition against Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries' disrespectful comments that shamed plus-size teenagers," DoSomething CMO Naomi Hirabayashi said in an email to The Huffington Post.

The nonprofit hopes to collect 25,000 signatures altogether.

“While competitors like H&M and American Eagle offer plus-size and XL clothing for females,Right now we are more than excited to share our current sweetheartnecklinedress line. Abercrombie’s CEO seems OK excluding people who aren’t skinny,” the nonprofit wrote in its petition. “Besides Jeffries being a complete jerk, his discriminatory attitudes are reflected in A&F’s size assortment. Anyone else mad about that?”

DoSomething is just one of a number of groups of young activists who have voiced their opposition to Abercrombie’s insistence on going after “the cool kids.”

O’Keefe’s petition has collected more than 75,000 signatures and the company offered up an apology after their meeting.

“We look forward to continuing this dialogue and taking concrete steps to demonstrate our commitment to anti-bullying in addition to our ongoing support of diversity and inclusion,” Abercrombie said in a statement last month. “We want to reiterate that we sincerely regret and apologize for any offense caused by comments we have made in the past which are contrary to these values."

Rabbatts' story is inspirational. She is charming and modest. But she can also be defensive. Often, she narrows her eyes when I ask a question, and though known forf being a no-nonsense kind of operator, her answers have a whiff of managerese. She talks about "skill sets" and metaphorical "journeys". Well, she does work in football. We provide you the most beautiful gowns, such as cheap 100%Silk Dresses and germanww2uniforms and so on.

In fact, she is in the business Premier League. In February, Radio 4 included her in a list of the top 100 most powerful women in Britain, and William Hague recently asked her on to the Supervisory Board of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. But it's in her role as the only woman ever to have joined the board of the FA – which celebrates its 150th birthday in October – that Rabbatts has made history.

Two years ago, the sports minister Hugh Robertson said football was the worst governed sport in Britain. This came after a six-month select committee inquiry into the FA, which concluded that the governing body needed a radical overhaul. Apart from having an arcane structure, it was too white, middle-class and male. Two new non-executive directors were created to complete a board of 12, of which Rabbatts became one.

Being half-Jamaican and female, Rabbatts was clearly a neat answer to the FA's critics. It seems a terrible question, but did she feel that was why she was appointed? "I felt very strongly and clearly that the skills that they were seeking, I pretty much ticked every box they had," she says. "Now, were the FA conscious that they needed a woman's voice? I think some of them were. But more importantly, it was about what I brought to the table – a skill set and experiences that the board were in need of."

Sigillo (Seal), Italian Prison Fashion Brand, Gives Inmates New Hope Of Life On The Outside

Women's prison workshops across Italy are joining up under a new commercial fashion brand they hope will help encourage more detainees to learn the trade and give them hope for a future on the outside.

The Sigillo (Seal) brand unveiled by the justice ministry this year will be available in the shops within months -- a unique experiment that has given new energy to places like a handbag workshop at Rebibbia prison in Rome.

"When I get out I want to have a more normal, a calmer life. With this job I'm sure everything will be okay with me. I've learnt a lot here," said Kalu Uwaezuoke Chinedum Ike, a Nigerian facing drug trafficking charges.

The 40-year-old works three afternoons a week in a room with sewing machines,Purchase formaldressesevening online, stay updated on team riders, latest news and events. cutting tables and bars on the windows.

Rows of blue-doored cells can be seen from the workshop in what is Italy's biggest women's prison with more than 700 detainees.

After more than three years inside as she awaits the conclusion of her trial, Kalu has acquired a knack for stitching and beading.

"I've always been a person who likes dressing well, even when I didn't have enough to eat," she said, adding: "I have a real passion for it!"

Prisons in Italy are notoriously overcrowded, and funding has been repeatedly cut in recent years, making for what Justice Minister Annamaria Cancellieri recently called a penal system "that is not worthy of a civilised country".

There are a few exceptions -- innovative projects like a theatre workshop, also at Rebibbia, whose performance of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" became the award-winning film "Caesar Must Die" released two years ago.Elegant authenticmonclerjackets features in chiffon.

After three years of bureaucratic hurdles, promoters of Sigillo hope the project -- which has 400,000 euros ($520,000) in funding from the justice ministry and 400,000 euros from charities -- will be a similar success.Big halterweddingdresses and Fitness is a family owned shop serving the Helena area since 1986.

"The aim of the project is to give female detainees the tools to be in the marketplace once they are released," said Nanda Roscioli, a former justice ministry employee and consultant who has been involved from the start.

Roscioli said it is also a way of countering a prison system oriented towards male detainees in which women are a "subordinate" minority.

"This makes conditions for female detainees harsher, more barbaric," Roscioli said.

"As far as I know this programme is unique,All saxobankcycling and accessories are made with the same authentic materials as the originals." she said.

Daniela Arronenzi, head of the Rebibbia workshop charity, said she signed up to the non-profit project because it would give prison-made garments access to a wider retail network and something resembling an actual fashion business.

"Of course, prison is a place of problems. There is overcrowding, there are budget cuts, but then there is also this," she said.

The initial plan is to hire 10 female detainees from workshops across the country and train 40 more who will produce under the Sigillo brand for big fashion names, as well as filling special orders for corporate marketing products.

The handbags made in Rebibbia sell for up to 40 euros each.

Supporters say the project is not exploitative because detainees will receive a regular part-time salary of 600 euros a month -- comparable to their counterparts on the outside -- and participation is voluntary.

Chinedum Ike and another member of the Rebibbia cooperative, Ukrainian detainee Natalya, currently receive around 150 euros,This elegant selection of cheapchaneljewellery will have you looking stunning for the big day! which they can send to family or spend on food and hygiene products in the prison.

The initiative is supported by Silvia Venturini Fendi, heiress of the Fendi fashion business, which is owned by French luxury giant LVMH.

For 33-year-old Natalya, who has been inside for three years, making handbags has little to do with glitzy catwalks or commercial success.

"For a time, we feel psychologically that we are not inside these walls. That's the reason for programmes like this. To switch off," said Natalya, who is also a proficient guitarist and pianist who plays at Sunday mass in the chapel.

"Sigillo is also about personal satisfaction. When we create things and they are sold, are appreciated, then we enjoy our work," Natalya said.

She added: "When I get out of here, I would like to open a shop."

What We Can Learn From Mel Brooks About Racism

“Blazing Saddles” is generally regarded as Mel Brooks’s best movie: It was ranked sixth on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 greatest American comedies and it was nominated for three Academy Awards. “Best,” though, is a relative term. Brooks’s Borscht Belt-meets-absurdism style is so unique and so indelible that what we call the “best” is usually the first of his movies we fell in love with.

It’s safer to say that “Blazing Saddles” was Brooks’s most timely movie, even his most serious movie. And it’s as safe to say that there wouldn’t be a Mel Brooks installment of PBS’s “American Masters” (premiering May 20; check local listings) without “Blazing Saddles.”

The opening scene is terrific and justifiably famous. We see a mix of Chinese and black workers pounding hammers under the desert sun. Their vicious and idiotic white overseers demand they sing spirituals like they did when they were slaves. The workers huddle, break apart, and slowly we hear a sweet, beautiful voice: “I get no kick from champagne.” Almost before we can process the joke, Brooks lays a second one atop the first: the black workers join in, harmonizing with the lead singer. This isn’t one person singing Cole Porter; this is a full, sophisticated a cappella routine. Brooks continues to add inversion after inversion, but the jokes work because the first few bars of that unexpected, anachronistic song say so much about racial ignorance.Discover suits with ASOS.Wonderful Gucci handbags collection: beachweddingdresses and discount Gucci handbags by Styledrops.

Coming less than a decade after the Civil Rights Act, “Blazing Saddles” exploded white Americans’ fears of integration and affirmative action. (Just before the climax, we see a poster reading “Help Wanted: Heartless Villains For Destruction of Rock Ridge, $100 Per Day, Criminal RecAll saxobankcycling and accessories are made with the same authentic materials as the originals.ord Required, Hedley Lamarr, Equal Opportunity Employer.Work a crowd in this evening gown from germanuniforms.”) The brilliance of “Blazing Saddles” is that you can watch it dozens of times, that you can laugh again and again at the sex jokes, at the sublime silliness, and even at the jokes about racial stereotypes without pausing to think about the underlying premise long enough to call it by its malicious name. Hedley Lamarr’s initial scheme boils down to this: If you put a black person in a prominent municipal position, everyone in the town will leave. “Blazing Saddles” is the funniest movie ever made about “white flight,” which is probably why it continues to make so many people uncomfortable.

But once we decide that the comedy in “Blazing Saddles” is serious, does that mean we have to take everything in the movie seriously? How are we supposed to view the elaborate ending? How are we supposed to understand the fantastically intricate way that Brooks pulled back the camera and broke the frame?

First, we have to remember the context. “Blazing Saddles” was released in 1974, during the heyday of American postmodernism. Thomas Pynchon only just won the National Book Award for “Gravity’s Rainbow.” John Barth’s “Chimera” was another recent winner. If we think about the ending within that context, it looks like a normal postmodern setup.

The ending only becomes more antic and more intricate. Hedley Lamarr leaves the soundstage and goes to the Chinese Theater to watch the premiere of “Blazing Saddles.” He watches the good guys coming for him and it causes him to try to flee. Watching the movie is part of watching the movie. (It’s a joke Brooks loved so much that he used it again in “Spaceballs.”) We go back and forth from the movie to the set to the movie. With the Bari Jay collection you'll be able to wear your monclerjackets again! Some characters act like actors playing characters. Some characters never drop the act. Is this comic or is it only silly? Is this postmodern or a joke on postmodernism?

We can’t answer the question because Brooks can’t answer the question. The ending of “Blazing Saddles” is a grand-though-hilarious failure because we’re never sure where the set-up ends and the joke begins. Parody had become inseparable from the thing itself.

Perhaps what Brooks was saying with the end of “Blazing Saddles” is that culture had become too anarchic to parody. There were no rules that artists had to follow. We would accept it all as serious art and Brooks approved. The end of “Blazing Saddles” calls back to the end of the Marx Brothers’ “Duck Soup.” In that surreal, anarchic ending, during Freedonia’s war against the Sylvanians, Groucho’s uniform constantly changes. One minute he’s in revolutionary war garb and everyone else is dressed like World War I soldiers; the next, Groucho is wearing a civil war infantry hat, then a confederate cavalry uniform. It’s a beautifully nonsensical statement of pacifism: war never ends, we only change costumes.

The movie reminds us that historical change is an illusion. We’re still genocidal, still racist. But perhaps we can use humor to get us to think differently. The end of “Blazing Saddles” isn’t an uncanny moment when Brooks’s parody echoes “serious” culture. The end of “Blazing Saddles” is a statement about how serious comedy has always been. It’s a reminder that much of what we sometimes call aesthetic experimentation came from screen comedies, from absurdist novels and films, from the need to push the comic envelope, to find new jokes. The ends is a proclamation about comedy and about postmodernism: Now we are all Marx Brothers.

Brighton 0-2 Crystal Palace

Manchester United-bound Wilfried Zaha ensured his Crystal Palace farewell party will be at Wembley after his two goals sank arch-rivals Brighton to set up an all-London Championship play-off final against Watford.Discover oneshoulderweddingdresses with ASOS.

The winger has already earned Palace $15million after agreeing a switch to Old Trafford in January, which will be completed in the summer.

And a well-taken double means he could now leave the Eagles a parting gift of a place in the Premier League next season and the millions of pounds that go with it.

A tense derby encounter was going the same way as the goalless first leg until Zaha broke the deadlock in the 69th minute, just moments after Brighton substitute Ashley Barnes had twice come agonisingly close to giving the hosts the lead.

And the 20-year-old England international killed off the Seagulls with a fabulous turn and shot with two minutes remaining.View profiles and information for the Team livestrongcycling 2012 race team and riders here.

It means Ian Holloway's Palace, who only secured their place in the top six on the final day of the season following a dismal run of form,It's the world's famous straplessweddingdress boy singer Justin Bieber. will play Gianfranco Zola's Watford in the final in a fortnight.

It was a different story in the first half for Zaha, who struggled to make an impact and became frustrated at some of the close attention he was receiving from Brighton's defenders.

Instead the Seagulls bossed the early stages with Julian Speroni having to keep out Will Buckley's drive before David Lopez's shot was deflected narrowly over.

Former England defender Matt Upson headed Andrea Orlandi's corner wide, Dean Hammond was also off target with a fierce, low drive and Orlandi's volley was straight at Speroni.

But Palace were a different proposition after the break and Jonny Williams missed a gilt-edged chance to put them ahead when he was sent clean through by Aaron Wilbraham.

The young Wales midfielder's low shot beat the dive of Seagulls goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak but rolled just wide of the far post.

Brighton striker Barnes twice came even closer to breaking the deadlock just a minute after climbing off the bench.

He latched onto Leonardo Ulloa's flick-on, only for Speroni to tip his shot onto the crossbar and from the resulting corner saw his header cleared off the line by Dean Moxey.

And the fine margins which decide these play-off encounters were brought home to Brighton moments later.

Palace sub Yannick Bolasie got the better of Inigo Calderon on the left and swung in a cross which Zaha, who had got in front of Wayne Bridge, met with a firm diving header which crashed into the net.

And as Brighton pushed for an equaliser they left a hole at the back which Kagisho Dikgacoi exposed by playing in Zaha, who turned Gordon Greer before thumping his shot into the roof of the net in front of the jubilant travelling fans.

With just under four minutes remaining, Henrik Zetterberg made the mistake of throwing the puck over the glass on a backhand clearing attempt to signal a delay of game penalty. It was now or never.

The Ducks made it now on a fluke goal much like Game Six. Fracois Beauchimin threw a puck to the front of the net that bounced off of Jonathan Ericsson's skate and behind Jimmy Howard to make it 3-2. At least Justin Abdelkader's goal wouldn't be the winner.

Time ticked down but Detroit would not allow the Ducks to get Jonas Hiller out of the net for an extra attacker again after an icing call late pinned the Ducks deep.Big halterweddingdresses and Fitness is a family owned shop serving the Helena area since 1986. When Pakistan's new foreign minister arrived in India for talks in 2011 it triggered a media storm on both sides of the border – not because of policy but a Birkin bag. Hina Rabbani Khar, at 34 Pakistan's youngest and first female foreign minister, was put under international scrutiny for her pearl necklaces, Cavalli sunglasses and expensive handbags. "A guy in my place would never get such attention – nobody would be talking about his suit," she said at the time.

Figures released by the Election Commission show a 129.8% increase in the number of women contesting general seats since the 2008 election. As well as Khar, Pakistan has had a female prime minister in Benazir Bhutto and currently has Fehmida Mirza as speaker. Reserved seats for women have always been guaranteed in Pakistan's constitution, and over the years the number of quota seats has increased due to the efforts of activists. Ghost Army of inflatable decoys helped WWII effort

Bernie Mason spent World War II moving Army tanks, sometimes picking them up and setting them down with his bare hands. He’s not superhuman. And the tanks weren’t some ultralight secret weapon.

It was combat trickery. As a 21-year-old lieutenant, Mason helped lead a handpicked unit of artists and creative thinkers who deployed and arranged highly detailed, inflatable rubber tanks — and trucks, jeeps, and artillery — to fool the Germans into thinking the Americans had more firepower than they actually did or that the equipment was somewhere other than where it really was.Officially, the unit was the 23d Headquarters Special Troops. Unofficially, it was the Ghost Army.

“It was like putting on a show,” said Mason, of Wynnewood, who turns 93 in May.A show, at least, until the Germans bought the deception. Mason had barely set foot in Europe in June 1944 when he found himself hugging the bottom of a foxhole as shells exploded all around, the enemy determined to destroy what it thought was a U.S. artillery emplacement. You'll be the queen of the room in this ssuniform evening gown.

Next month, Mason will be featured in a new PBS documentary that extols the unit’s unique mission - making up fake divisions, sham headquarters, and illusory convoys in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. The Ghost Army, written and directed by Rick Beyer, premieres at 8 p.m. May 21.

There is no reason why a museum collection shouldn't inform us about the German Democratic Republic whose forty-one year history, after all,It has a sexy canadagoosewhistlerparka with short sleeves. more that doubled the life span of the Third Reich, knowledge of which never stops raining on us. There could be no better place for the collection, moreover, than in what was DDR's capital city, up against what were the German-German borders. However, to make sense of the exhibits, they would have to be set in a historical context. The new country had frontiers with the Soviet Union, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and a taunting West Germany in a Europe exiting from the most destructive war in history. We would have to be given some light on the pressures this involved. The DDR Museum presents East Germany as some sort of settlement off on its own in a vacuum. It could be a crazy utopian commune set up on the moon.

We are shown the artifacts produced in East Germany as if they were the implements of primitives. Wouldn't a 1950s typewriter or automobile produced in the West be the object for just as facile laughter today? Does the Stasi listening bug exhibited to thrill us differ essentially from the unexhibited surveillance gadgets the C.I.A. uses? Recordings of police interrogations are offered as if such procedures were somehow unique to the DDR and not as old as law enforcement anywhere. An unobjectionable item on show is the reconstructed, typical, conceived for one occupant, East German prison cell. Meant to make us feel the weight of a police state, the cell would be considered luxurious by any prisoner today from Rome to Los Angeles in our "developed" countries' overcrowded jails.

The historian's code is to set out the facts, organize them, interpret them if necessary, and then let the reader or viewer make up his own mind. The DDR Museum hasn't the confidence to let this process play out. Repeatedly it tells us what to think about what it shows us. This can be hilarious. We are given to contemplate a large photograph of a Soviet satellite country's leader embracing his DDR opposite number on a diplomatic visit. Today we see similar scenes, with better made-up faces, regularly on television. Top European Union figures make their rounds or Hamid Karsai comes from Kabul to consult with President Obama.Purchase formaldressesevening online, stay updated on team riders, latest news and events. The DDR Museum, however, feels the need to inform us that the kisses exchanged by the elderly statesmen of Eastern Europe were pure hypocrisy. The Soviet satellite system,Sale cheap bridalgown online, white, black, berry, Graphite canada goose victoria parka hot sale. it says, was held together not by friendship,A pretty hermeshandbags can complete a look for a nice evening. but by sheer force. Of course. Every drone sent over Pakistan is a billet doux and Angela Merkel's diktats to Greece mere valentines. Again, in a display about East German elections, it isn't enough to let us view the scene, the equipment involved, and an account of the operation. The Museum adds the comment that though East Germany had elections no real change ever resulted from them. It was hard not to roar with laughter on being told such stuff in the wake of recent U.S. and European elections where candidates had struggled to find issues to differ over and when once elected hastened to reaffirm the status quo.

In the end, talking of cities, we can't get away from James Donald's reflection. The theorist and lover of cities wrote in Imagining the Modern City, (1999), "Our experience of the real -- specifically, the real of the city -- is always imagined,...poetic." Outsiders fantasizing Berlin's comings and goings have been profligate. But isn't that the way of poets? Let's accelerate on William Blake's "road of excess" and imagine the elements of Berlin today rearranged to make our lives more meaningful, bright with a less commercial sheen.

We will forego a hub. The die having been cast, Berlin can't be contorted so as to radiate from a center. We also will have to concede that the neglected River Spree can't for a host of reasons be promoted and add savor to a municipal area of nine hundred square kilometers. Better to delight in the uncrowded space history and catastrophe has bequeathed. Parks are everywhere and public transport superb. Let the three points of an ideal triangle keep triviality at bay in our fantasy Berlin.

Outside of the game: Kyle Rose

Kyle Rose sits in the locker room and laces up his team-issue basketball shoes before hitting the court. He’s living out his lifelong dream of playing for the Brigham Young University basketball team. But outside of practice, Rose’s sports shoes just don’t make the cut compared to his Air Max Ones, Jordan Fours or Foamposites.

A redshirt freshman on the BYU basketball team, Rose has collected about 150 pairs of shoes — Nikes and Jordans, specifically, plus about 20 other pairs of everyday shoes.

What Rose says began as a “mini obsession” with shoes was fueled by visits to his dad’s office at Nike. In junior high, Rose wore a size 9 — the perfect size for leftover sample shoes, which were a perk of his father’s job. His friends started noticing that he was wearing different shoes to school all of the time and wanted to trade him, and that’s when he said shoes became his hobby.

“Seventh grade is when I started to collect and care which pairs I had and try to get the best pairs,” Rose said.

Even before that, Rose had been indoctrinated that Nikes are the best. He has been wearing Nikes since the time he first had shoes on his feet.

“He probably had a pair of Jordans on him when he came home from the hospital,” said Rose’s father, Scott Rose. “He had a Jordan onesie and matching crib booties.”

Scott Rose has worked at Nike throughout his son’s life, so shoes were always abundant at the Rose home. He said shoes are everywhere you look in the house, filling the closets and garage like food storage. Kyle Rose was taught to appreciate shoes at a young age.

“The very first time I can remember him having an opinion about shoes was in the fifth or fourth grade when he had a dress-up day,” his father said.Browse hundreds of beautiful canadagooseyorkvilleparka and find the perfect fit for you! “He always matched everything, but on that day I remember him wearing a black pair of Jordans on one foot and a white pair on the other foot.”

Young Kyle Rose’s favorite shoes back then were high-top Nike Dunks, nicknamed Sea Crystals, that he would sport with a matching shirt, of course.

He has kept up his collection since. He and a teammate used to camp out overnight for shoes. They’d wait in line with their the shoes until their Nike-employed fathers came in the morning to purchase them.

“He knew at a very young age everything that was exclusive enough that he wanted it be to be part of his collection,” Scott said.

Kyle Rose’s collection just kept growing as his father taught him about new technologies and up-and-coming shoe releases. During his senior year, he had the opportunity to work with the Nike design team to create the shoes for his high school basketball team. With the Hyper Dunk as his starting ground, he built the color and added school logos.

Also during his senior year, the avid shoe collector went the first 60 days of school without repeating the same pair of shoes.

His roommate and best friend since seventh grade, Mitch Mathews, said, “I was always jealous because he’d go to school for two to three months without wearing the same pair of shoes.”

Aside from coordinating his footwear, Kyle Rose was also busy coordinating his Eagle Scout project. He raised money and donated Nike shoes and other gear to different charities.

Since then, Rose has continued to look outside himself and is always ready to share. In addition to letting trustworthy friends borrow from his collection, he gives up his shoes to make others happy. In December 2012, he met Garrett Card at the Children with Cancer Christmas Foundation. Rose found out Card was interested in Nike shoes too, and they got to talking shop.

“That’s what he wanted for Christmas, so I ended up giving him a pair out of my closet at a game,” Rose said. “He was super stoked. He couldn’t even say anything except thanks a billion times.”
As he continues his collection, the Nike purist keeps up on his research by spending time on blogs and shoe websites.Shop the latest shoxshoes on the world's largest fashion site. Kyle Rose looks at the colors and the technologies as well as the history behind the shoe — especially when it comes to Jordans like the Jordan Fours he recently acquired.

“He (Michael Jordan) wore these way, way back in the day — before I was born,” Kyle Rose said. “He hit a game-winning shot against Craig Ehlo in one of his most famous moments. These are one of my all-time favorite pairs of Jordans for sure.”

Other shoes have special meaning to Rose because they are connected to important memories like a basketball tournament with his father during his sophomore year of high school or a significant basketball game.Charming but sophisticated, this long soft popularjeans mesh stunner is the perfect wedding dress for fall!

“I remember my senior night in high school for basketball I broke out this pair of Jordans that I had never worn before,” he said. “I wore them and played in them for senior night, and we won.”

When he wears out a pair, a rare occurrence, Kyle Rose just throws them out or gives them away. Yet some shoes he has never worn and doesn’t ever plan to wear. He keeps all of his shoes, brand new or not, in the boxes with the tissue, but he said he has about 50 pairs still with pristine soles.

“Honestly, some of them are just so nice and just look so good I don’t want to wear them,” Rose said. “I don’t want to mess them up. I don’t know why I do that,We provide you the most beautiful gowns, such as cheap 100%Silk Dresses and germanww2uniforms and so on. but I just can’t bring myself to wear them.”

While he knows some people think he’s crazy, he also says a lot of people like his gigantic shoe collection. Some people even come over and look through the boxes and check out all of his shoes. Mathews said people are amazed when they come into Rose’s room, and they ask him a lot of questions about the shoes.Jovani Designer Dresses such as beachweddingdresses and wedding dresses will make you Look more beautiful than you've imagined.

Even though he is fairly humble about his collection, he — like anyone with something new — sometimes wants to show them off.

“One time he got four new pairs of shoes that were all the same but different colors,” Mathews said. “He lined them up perfectly so people could check them out.”

With three more pairs on their way in the mail, Rose’s shoe collection just keeps growing, and he doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Nike shoes are probably in his life to stay, and his future spouse had better be okay with it.

His father said, “I think he’s already picked out the pair he’s wearing to his wedding — a pair of Italian-made Air Force Ones with crocodile skin.”

Fedor Tyutin's OT goal lifts Blue Jackets past Ducks

With four games left, the Columbus Blue Jackets are back in a playoff spot.Sleeveless Satin chloehandbags with Slim Skirt Style 81047.

Now they will try to hold off the Detroit Red Wings.

Fedor Tyutin scored 2:19 into overtime, and the Blue Jackets picked up their fifth consecutive win and moved into eighth place in the Western Conference with a 3-2 victory against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night.

Columbus has three games left on a six-game trip before returning home for the finale against the Nashville Predators.

"We are extremely committed. That's all we talk about," forward R.J. Umberger said. "We want to make the playoffs and we want to win the Stanley Cup. That's our goal from Day One."

Blake Comeau and Matt Calvert also scored for the Blue Jackets, who rallied to win and jumped two points ahead of Detroit, which lost earlier Wednesday.

Columbus moved within one point of the seventh-place St. Louis Blues,Purchase ralphlaurenhoody online, stay updated on team riders, latest news and events. who have two games in hand. Sergei Bobrovsky made 26 saves.

The Ducks,Buy beachweddingdresses at the online outlet. who already have clinched a postseason berth, lead the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks by six points in their bid for their second Pacific Division title.

Anaheim has lost six of nine home games after winning a franchise-record 13 in a row at Honda Center.

"There were lulls in the game where they took the energy back," Ducks center Andrew Cogliano said. "That's the difference on why we're not winning. We're letting teams get back into the game."

Defenseman Sami Vatanen scored his first NHL goal, one day after Anaheim recalled him from the minors, and David Steckel ended a 32-game goal drought. Viktor Fasth stopped 25 shots, including a short-handed breakaway by Umberger in the first period.

"I thought we played a good game," Umberger said. "We won the game, so we got some breaks.where you can purchase Online Sale of Cheap benebags? We said we needed a 60-minute game for us, and this is the best effort we can put together.

"The last couple of road games we started slow,Find More Petticoats Information about 2012 bestledlighte Fishtail skirt petticoat Mesh layers Wedding Accessories. so we wanted to put a full effort together. We knew we had to take it to the end to win, and we did."

Nick Foligno set up the deciding goal with a nifty spin move away from Saku Koivu at the top of the left circle and threw the puck toward the net before Tyutin redirected it past Fasth for his fourth of the season and first winner since the 2009-10 season.

"Nick Foligno did what he does best. He's able to handle and play with the puck and draw defenders to him, then beat them out of a turn and it opens up some ice," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "He made a great play to the net and a great deflection."

Steckel put Anaheim ahead 2-1 at 4:53 of the third period with his first goal since March 23, 2012. Kyle Palmieri tried to stuff the puck under Bobrovsky's pads, and Steckel took a whack at it. The puck hit the goalie and bounced about 20 feet in the air before landing on its side in the crease and rolling across the goal line.

"We didn't get down after a fluky, bad goal," Richards said. "The attitude on the bench was great. They stuck with it and continued to do the things that we were doing all game long to have success. And it paid off.

"The guys believe. We're finding ways to win hockey games. I thought we were faster and more tenacious on the puck."

The Blue Jackets tied it with 10:17 left in regulation, as Calvert converted a rebound of Brandon Dubinsky's close-in backhander for his ninth goal.

The Ducks opened the scoring six seconds into their second power play. Teemu Selanne won a faceoff deep in the Columbus zone, and Vatanen beat Bobrovsky high to the glove side from the top of the left circle after getting the puck from Corey Perry.

It was Vatanen's fourth NHL game and first since Feb. 6.

"I thought Sami was our best player. But we just have to win some games and we have to have everybody contributing," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "The reason we had success was because everybody was contributing. The reason we're not having success now is because we're not getting everybody contributing."

Columbus tied it at 16:38 of the second on a redirection by Comeau after former Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski pinched at the right boards to cut off Francois Beauchemin's attempted clearing pass and took a wrist shot with Comeau positioned in the low slot.

"They had better scoring chances," Boudreau said. "We got a point, but it's not the point. It's the playing more complete. And we're not playing complete."

A Treat for Art Students: Leggy Models With Multicolor Coats and Fine Manes

Jordan Judd did something on Wednesday that art students do not usually do: He walked away with one of the models.

Mr. Judd, 22, is a senior at Pratt Institute, the art and design school in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The model, who is 17, was one of two that students had been sketching on the lawn behind the library.

Mr. Judd said the conversation began innocently enough. He whispered hello. “Lucille” — he found out her name in no time at all — “was kind enough to say ‘hello’ back and say, ‘Let’s go for a stroll,’” he explained.

So he took hold of Lucille’s halter and led her off.

Lucille is a horse.High quality cartierreplicawatches should have that same amount of love put into them.

She and Mr. Judd did not go far — just a few steps, though he joked about riding off to Downtown Brooklyn. She and her stable mate, Gracie, spent the day on the Pratt campus so students could draw them from life, which some students said was a different experience from drawing from a photograph. “You can learn from pictures,” said Mae Armenante, 18, a freshman from Oradell, N.J.2012 asymmetricnecklinedress are beautiful and sold well., “but having the real thing is so much cooler.so happy with the resurgence of fakerolexwatches.”

Like the return of the swallows to Mission San Juan Capistrano in California, the arrival of the horses is a much-anticipated moment, at least at Pratt.Embrace modern glamour in this evening gown from sweetheartnecklinedress. Unlike the swallows, though, the horses do not arrive under their own power. Lucille, a brown quarter-horse, and Gracie, an Andalusian Welsh cross, endured a four-hour trailer ride from Tyler Hill, Pa. Their trainer, Ben Goldberg, had a sour look and a single word to describe the traffic: “Unpleasant.”

The horses got their first glimpse of the Pratt campus about the time some students were probably just rolling out of bed. They ate a midmorning meal from chewy bales of grass that Mr. Goldberg had stowed in the trailer. They were watered and groomed, and they were photographed by students like Ms. Armenante, who was taking a break from a class on light, color and design.

Then the portraiture got under way, as students with sketch pads settled onto the lawn opposite the landmark main building, a Romanesque Revival fortress that was heavily damaged in a fire in January. The students sat cross-legged in the sun, their backs to the 1887 building, squinting, staring and squinting again.

“When you look at a horse, you think, ‘Oh, a brown horse,’” said Caroline La Douce, 18, a freshman from Elmira, N.Y., as she sketched Lucille. “You don’t realize there are all these different colors,Purchase ralphlaurenhoody online, stay updated on team riders, latest news and events. the way the light hits her coat.”

Mr. Goldberg said horses present a particular challenge. “Picasso mentioned — no, not Picasso, I’m not an artist — but some famous artist said horses are hard to draw,” he said.

So are other kinds of animals not often seen on the Pratt campus, according to some of the students. “My teacher said Disney, for ‘Bambi,’ they spent three months in a room with a deer, just straight drawing,” said Maggie Iapoce, 18, a freshman from Woodstock, N.Y.

But back to horses. Sarah van Ouwerkerk, the professor who arranged for Lucille and Gracie to visit the campus, published “Horse Beautiful” in 2006, a collection of her photographs of horses. She said she had inaugurated the once-a-year horse modeling in the mid-1990s and even brought her own horses one year.

“They said, ‘I want to go home,’” she said. “They weren’t too happy.”

Thomas F. Schutte, the president of Pratt, remembered the time an elephant from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus was brought in. He said that seeing animals up close teaches art students a number of important lessons.

“One is the anatomy,” he said. “Anatomy is extremely important and extremely complex. A second is using different drawing techniques. Their sketches will be reviewed by the faculty, and critiqued.”

Renner, Francis Highlight UNC Spring Game

Veteran quarterback Bryn Renner and true freshman tailback Khris Francis highlighted the 2013 North Carolina Spring Football Game Saturday in a contest won by the Blue team 34-10 over the White.Welcome to canadagoosejacket And Buy 2013 Authentic Beats By Dre.

Renner led the Blue team, completing 16 of 27 attempts for 216 yards and three touchdowns. It was another solid performance for Renner who helped Carolina set more than 20 offensive records as a junior last season. Renner has set the single-season touchdown passing record in each of the last two years. He enters his senior season as one of the most prolific passers in UNC history.

Saturday, he connected with A.J. Blue on a 33-yard screen pass and later found Sean Tapley on a 48-yard crossing route as the Blue team surged to a 21-3 lead.

Meanwhile, Francis rushed 20 times for 101 yards to lead the White. A native of Durham, N.Like a lot of women,Custom made purplesuprashoes?C., Francis enrolled in January along with four other scholarship freshmen and is experiencing his first spring practice in Chapel Hill. Mitch Trubisky, who also enrolled in January, took the majority of the snaps for the White. He completed 7 of 14 for 88 yards. He also played for the Blue team in relief of Renner and completed 3 of 4 attempts for 82 yards and hit Damien Washington for a 20-yard touchdown.

“Our team had a great spring,” said head coach Larry Fedora. “We’ve come a long way. We’ve got a long way to go, but you got to see a few guys get out there and make some plays today. The guys played hard today and that was the main thing.”

The Blue team was comprised of most of Carolina’s projected 2013 starters. Blue and sophomore Romar Morris led the rushing attack. Blue carried eight times for 30 yards and Morris had 15 attempts for 80 yards.

“I thought all three of our running backs played well,” said Fedora. “But Khris, for his first time out there in a game-type atmosphere, he did a good job.Find the largest selection of canadagooseparka on sale. Defensively, senior end Kareem Martin was the standout performer of the day along with junior linebacker Travis Hughes. Martin finished with seven tackles, which included four sacks for 28 yards, while Hughes added a team-high 14 tackles, including two sacks for 14 yards.

At halftime, Carolina fans were treated to the debut of the Tar Heels new uniforms. Six players walked onto the field wearing assorted combinations of Carolina blue, white and black uniforms. The alternative all-black uniform will be worn on Thursday, Oct. 17 when the Tar Heels face Miami. The game is billed as Zero Dark Thursday and will be just the second ESPN Thursday night home game in UNC history.

'Dream Gowns Bridal' Coming to Crystal Lake

Three yeaLooking for a bestsuprashoess?rs ago, Deborah Donaldson came to the realization that the bridal market for larger-sized women is underserved.

"There needs to be a bridal shop that carries sizes above size 14 so everyone can enjoy the bridal experience," Donaldson told Crystal Lake City Council members last week. "We believe everyone has the right to look and feel beautiful on her wedding day."

Donaldson plans to open Dream Gowns Bridal store at 16 W. Crystal Lake Plaza, Crystal Lake. The location is perfect, she told city council members, as it is located next to a bakery and flower shop.

Council members unanimously voted in favor of approving a $10,000 New Retailer Job Creation and Investment Matching grant application for the business. (Council members Ellen Brady Mueller and Brett Hopkins were not present).

The grant will help cover part of the more than $21,000 Donaldson will spend on furniture, fixtures, office equipment and interior improvements for the 5,250 square feet location.

Donaldson said she plans to offer a large selection of bridalwear fashions and accessories in regular sizes. But, it's the expansive selection of plus-size gowns that will make the store unique.

The store will carry bridal gowns and dresses up to size 28, she said.

Daga, an American living in Toronto, had tried eBay several times, but she only received bids for $100 or $200 on the dress for which she paid $3,000.

“I couldn’t find a consignment shop that would take it,” she said, “and message boards were cumbersome.”

Jennie Ma, fashion and beauty editor of The Knot, said brides have a number of options for their wedding dress, including selling or donating it, but most women still choose to preserve their wedding dress.

“You hope your daughter will wear it,” Ma said. “But you might as well sell it, recoup some of the cost and help someone else.”
The Dress Value Calculator was the result of queries to Daga, asking how much a particular used wedding dress was worth.

“We get emails all the time in which women ask how much their dress is worth,” she said.

The dress takes into account factors like whether it has been cleaned, and calculates its potential worth.

“What we think is so cool, not only does it do that, it shows similar dresses on our site,” she said.

As a general rule, dresses sell for 50 percent of retail value.

Always the bridesmaid?

Weddings can mean a world of embarrassment for the single woman

Sooooo... when are you two going to tie the knot?" When I was part of a couple during my twenties, I used to dread that inevitable wedding-guest question. My then boyfriend and I would laugh it off (it would have been nice to have discussed it with each other first) while well-meaning friends nodded sagely and confidently prophesied: "You'll be next."

Well, we weren't. Five years and I don't know how many weddings later, I found myself navigating nuptials alone at 30. "Oh well," you might think. "What's a few hours among friends?" Only, it's not quite that cut and dried. Weddings are a serious commitment - and not just for the happy couple. From your late twenties to your early thirties, half your weekends can be taken up with guesting.Wholesale beachweddingdresses Online 2011 Free Shipping. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single girl over a certain age must be in want of a groom. Or at least, that's how you're made to feel as a lone wedding guest - in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.

My first solo assignment was a particularly tricky prospect: the only people I knew were the bride and groom. As I took my seat at a table of married, middle-aged strangers, I hoped a killer haircut and brandnew dress would keep me feeling confident. The Canada Goose Manitoba Jacket has a removable hood and is a slim, modern fit which makes it ideal for city streets or Arctic tundra.authenticmonclerjackets They had other ideas.Looking for a bestsuprashoess?

"How brave," agreed my fiftysomething neighbours when I told them I had come alone. "How brave," echoed their friends as word got round the table that I was newly single. Pretty soon I had a gaggle of eager matchmakers at my disposal, whether I wanted them or not. And, as the vino flowed, their suggestions became ever more vague and alarming.

"How about Tarquin? He's tall - you'll love him. Or there's so-and-so's nephew. He's been single for years.

Or Molly's son. We think he might be gay but he's so much fun..." If I had arrived attempting my best impersonation of a femme fatale, I felt like a frumpy spinster by the time they'd finished their Cilla routine. And that feeling persisted as the happy couple left for their honeymoon.

When the bride's bouquet literally lands at your feet, is it rude not to pick it up? I had tried to keep what I thought was a nonchalant distance from the clamouring crowd of would-be brides, but judging by the whoops and applause I had little choice but to grin and bear it.A fakerolexwatches is a style that many are using now!

Mind you, that was nothing compared with my next wedding reception, where the DJ rounded up a horde of us "hopefuls" to the defiant, righteous beat of Beyoncé's Single Ladies. If only us singletons had got together beforehand to work out a finger-wagging, booty-bouncing routine, it might have been empowering. Instead, there we were - a dozen or so desperadas, standing around looking any which way but bride-wards. And "If you like it then you should have put a ring on it" is not a lyric you want to hear in front of your ex and his new girlfriend.

Don't get me wrong - being single does have its benefits. With my ex out of the equation, I was upgraded from evening guest to day guest at more than one wedding. And the closer you are to the happy couple, the more likely you are to be seated next to the most eligible bachelors on the guest list. Unless, of course, you're a bridesmaid.

This is where those time-honoured wedding traditions can come in really handy. With the seating plan for the top table preordained, you can kiss goodbye to that awkward banter at table. And if you're floundering for a partner for that conspicuous first dance, tradition dictates that an usher will save the day.

But there is a flip side. While it is an undoubted privilege to be up there supporting one of your best friends on the biggest day of her life, at your less-confident moments you can feel like a fish out of water, especially if you've got to stay sober in salmon-pink taffeta - and find yourself alone in the middle of the dance floor as everyone else pairs up for the ceilidh.

Ah well, at least my blushes matched my dress as the bride and groom felt compelled to include me in a polka-ing threesome.

You'd think being a single girl at weddings would bring on all sorts of Sex and the City-style scenarios - but for me, Last of the Summer Wine would be more accurate.

Even if you do join in the after-party shenanigans, those 3am flirts always attract the wrong kind of guy. I couldn't believe it when one so-called best man propositioned me while his girlfriend was asleep upstairs, and he couldn't understand why I insisted on playing maid of honour.

Some of my single friends have a plus-one-or-no-show policy for weddings and, while I sometimes wonder if they have a point, I'm glad I've braved it out alone. for the most part, going solo has been a real giggle - thanks to the kindness of friends and strangers.

I will forever be grateful to my gorgeous (gay) dance partner,Cheap weddingdresses 2013 new arrival ! who whisked me off my feet weeks after my break-up and danced all night with me to a brilliant Beatles tribute band. To the groups of girls who didn't think twice about rallying round to keep me company on clichéd disco classics. But most of all, to the shy guy I got talking to at my best friend's wedding, who cared enough to ask if I was single.

Well I'm not now, so it's only a matter of time before those cringy couples-at-wedding questions start again.

Delsey Reveals Tips for Destination Brides and Honeymooners

Delsey, creator of feature-rich luggage, is gearing up for wedding season, offering packing tips and tricks for destination brides and honeymooners. With over 65 years experience designing luggage for any occasion, Delsey is offering the latest packing advice to ensure brides and grooms can get hitched,The wintert-shirts is one amongst the foremost in style international models. without a hitch!

Rule 1 - Last item in, first item out
To preserve formal attire as much as possible, follow the last item in,Wonderful Gucci handbags collection: alineweddingdresses and discount Gucci handbags by Styledrops. first item out rule. This means make sure dresses, the veil, suits, and any other delicates are the last items packed prior to departure and the first items unpacked upon arrival.Shop for Women's Bridesmaid Dresses and other Women's backpackfactory.

Rule 2 - Use a garment bag
Garment bags are the way to go when transporting a wedding dress, tuxedo, or any other delicate dress clothing. We just have to gaze at catalogs filled with germanww2uniforms dresses! Garment bags protect clothing during travel and minimize wrinkles, as items hang or lay flat as much as possible. Exterior hooks allow the bag to be hung upright while interior clamps permit travelers to attach clothing hangers firmly and easily.

Rule 3 - White tissue paper
Using tissue paper -- and lots of it -- is the best way to preserve wedding dresses while traveling. First, line the interior of the dress with paper; this will eliminate the fabric on fabric friction that may cause wear. Line each fold in a full skirt or long train with several layers of tissue to avoid heavy creasing. If the dress is white, use white paper! And if the dress is colored, go with the same color as the dress, to ensure the paper does not rub off and stain precious items.

Rule 4 - Carry-on please!
Don't check important bags. Most airlines are quite accommodating when it comes to weddings and wedding parties -- especially if the destination wedding involves a group of 20 or more traveling on the same airline! Put that bargaining power to good use, and gently persuade air hosts to allow garment bags onboard.

Most planes have a special coat closet near the first class section, and if there is room, that would be an excellent place to store your bag. Otherwise, making friends with onboard neighbors and finding some room in the carry-on compartment works as well.

Do remember to take garment bags off the plane! With so much excitement in the air it can be easy to forget items onboard, particularly if these items are not stored directly above the seat. Ask air hosts and co-travelers to give a gentle reminder upon arrival, or set an alarm on a mobile phone schedules to go off at arrival,Shop the latest burberryhandbags on the world's largest fashion ... to ensure the wedding party leaves the plane with everything brought onboard.

Rule 5 - Hard-side bags for protection and style
Brides spend so much time ensuring every detail of their wedding is flawless, why not extend that level of commitment to traveling in style? Hard-side suitcases come in an attractive array of colors, deep metallic glossy finishes and textured exteriors, perfect to coordinate to a wedding party or add a pop of color to an enroute ensemble.

Delsey offers a wide variety of stylish, lightweight, durable hard-side cases designed to accompany the most selective brides and grooms. With spinner wheels for easy movement, an integrated 3 dial TSA accepted combination lock, and two inches of expandable space, the Delsey collections satisfy even the most exigent Bridezilla. Delsey Helium Aero and Delsey Helium Shadow 2.0 both offer 19 inch international carry-on bags with hard-side exterior pockets for easy access during travel. Delsey Helium Colours carry-on offers a two-point closure system for water and dust resistance while bringing bright, lively colour to any trip. Best of all, the quality collections provide an added level of protection so fragile items arrive in tact.

Available at most department stores and specialty luggage shops, the Delsey hard-side carry-on luggage retails at sale prices from $99.99 to $179.99.
